I tried to like this game, but I just can't. The game looks great and on paper it's something I should really enjoy, but I just feel like I'm constantly at odds with the controls. Though I have less than an hour into it, I've booted it up several times trying to make it work for me, only to find myself frustrated and only partly due to the fact that it freezes on occassion. It would seem that micro-management is a very big part of this game, but the controls just don't feel tight enough to support that.

It looks really good, even great, but I would have preferred less of that polish on the exterior and more work on the guts. Like I said, I really want to like this game, so I probably haven't given up on it and I'll revise my review should my opinion change.

This is a port from a mobile game, and a bad one at that. It literally crashes every single time I play it. I had to keep going back into it just to suffer through 5 minutes of gameplay just to leave a comment.

Not great, but not bad by any means. A little bit predictable with the waves, but also requires a good amount of awareness and strategy.

This strategic game got a lot of options, sides to choose and units
its easy to control or to learn the basics, you'll be the highest power in no time!
It doesn't have online multiplayer currently, but hopely it will one day

It's not a good nor a bad game. You need to try though.

You know what makes a game fun, is when you are challenged. This game does just that! Starts you off slow but works you into it. The sound, graphics and details are very well done for a Top/3D fighter game. This game is sure to provide enterainment for any avid gamer!

Overview:

An asteroid hits the planet! Some goo covers tanks and machines! They attack! You must defend humanity with tanks and robots.

Tanks Vs Aliens is a real time tower defense game. It starts you off rather easy, with a few tanks and towers and shows you how to go about everything and then ramps up the difficult towards the end. Overall a pretty simple tower defense game.

Menus: The main menu is laid out pretty simple, The standard New Game, Play(Which is continue), Settings, Credits and Quit. Everything is self explanitory.

In the settings menu, you have sliders for Music and Sound, but no slider for overall volume or voice volume. Graphics options are also limited to "Low", "Medium", and "High." As well as a variety of resolution settings. The toggling of full screen and windowed(But no borderless window mode.) And the ability to disable the story and tutorial.

Once you've started a game, you get access to the Tankpedia, which gives you details of all the tanks unlocked and defeated.

Music/Sound: Everything is loud. The sound design is clean and mechanical. The music is fits very well between synth heavy pieces and metal but it does get repetitive after a while. There is voice acting, but it's limited to unit losses, creation, and that the next wave is incoming.



Gameplay: The gameplay loop is simple. Create tanks of different types(Rock, Paper, Scissors) to protect the portal from the enemy tanks. You're given a budget at the start as well as a few tanks to start you out. As you destory other tanks, you earn credits to repair, produce, and upgrade your tanks. And then it's just moving your units around as needed to eliminate all the enemies on the level. There are 3 basic difficulties, Bronze, Silver, and Gold. As well as a challenge(achievement) associated with each level.


Controls: The controls a simple, you use the mouse to highlight and select units and to give them orders. You can scroll using the sides of the screen or with the WASD keys. Q heals your units, and E upgrades your units.


Summary:

A pick up and play type game. Simple premise, with some challenge along the way, playing on Bronze feels like you're along for the ride while playing Gold can be quite a handful.

Everything is very loud.
Story is well thought out but presented awkwardly.

Contains both tanks as well as aliens as promised.

Quite enjoyable game. Reminds me of simplified Ground Control.

Good:
- Its a pretty cool game, good sound and graphics
- fast paced and keeps you engaged
- you get new usefull tanks as you progress
- different tactics for different levels
- levels can get difficult, but with some patience and the right stragegy it goes.

Not so good:
- it can be really difficult to control the units, not practical
- storyline can get repetitive, could use some unexpected surprizes
- not very smart AI - your or enemy units

Up to now a good simple game for quick play and some fun.
