Black screen when trying to enter the Bazaar betweeb time

Just as the title says.

I haven't played this game in months because of school but a few days ago I felt like playing it again. My laptop is a few years old so I wasn't sure if it will run, but it works just fine and I was able to beat Mithrix on Monsoon on my first try.
Naturally I go for my second run, I get the blue portal on the first stage, I go through it (the teleportation happens), but the screen just turns black and I have to restart the game. I can still hear the background noise while the screen is black.

Any ideas what I could do?
