Items Falling Off Cliffs is *Intensely* Irritating.
A friend and myself were playing a very long run together, to get the Artificer: Chunked! achievement (Which we successfully got, yay!), and afterweard we decided we wanted to find a cleansing pool, print out all our blue items, and try and get an irridescent Pearl (I had it in my logbook, and she needed it as the last item in her log). Fine, cool. We decided thi at about 110 minutes, stage 12 or so.

Two hours later, after spending a 4 lunar coins to get to siren's call (We think the Cleansing Pool is more common there), on stage 30, we FINALLY found one. It took us ages, we were very excited to have found one after searching for that long. Print out the first item and whoosh, poof, right off the cliff, gone forever. Nothing we can do about it. We tried to continue, but the game crashed before we found another one.

By this point, I've had [probably 60+ total items get flung off cliffs by printers, chests, dropping elite equipments. Especially in Siren's call, where chests and items can spawn on tiny, thin spires of stone suspended above the cliffs, this is basically just...Items that might as well not be in the game. But *worse*, because it gives you the illusion that you'll get it, then throws it in the garbage right in front of you. It's insult to injury, it's like being pranked by the developers, and when you work THAT long to find something, and have it spit right in your face, well it leaves you kind of steamed up!

So. I've seen other people suggest this, but I'm doing it again, so the Devs might see it, and see that the game NEEDS this.

Items that fall off edges should reappear at the top, just like falling players do. That's the best, most obvious solution. Please add it to the game. PLEASE.

I've had other ideas that would also fix it, some of which have been suggested and some I've never seen. Make it so items cannot spawn that close to any cliff, or just make it so they can never face TOWARD the edge, only away. Problem solved. Or, just put up an invisible barrier that items collide with, but chests and printers don't. Problem solved. Shorten the length of the arc of items coming out of chests and printers, so they land much closer. Problem solved. Remove gravity from items, so they just land at the same altitude of the chest, even on this air. Sorry to repeat myself like a rude jerk, but problem solved.

The POINT is, there are many, many ways to solve this EXTREMELY irritating and common problem! It feels like a basic and fundamental flaw in the game that could be so easily solved. If this is sincerely what the Developers WANT to be in the game, I'd still love to hear form them as to WHY they want it that way, or what prevents them from fixing it.

There's way too many chests, 3-item shops, and shrines of chance that are placed over ledges and above cliffs. In the last 5 hours of gameplay, I've lost 8 items due to this.

What's the deal with allowing placement where you can spend money and not get your item? How exactly was this problem overlooked when looking at spawn maps?

I've seen things come extremely close but never seen them go off the edge. The game seems to have edge detection but they really need to be facing away from cliffs at all times.

I agree. That would especially help with this

Easiest way to deal with this would be to just treat items as players and teleport them back to the ground when they fall out of bounds

I must be intensely lucky in my 275 hours of play to not have this occurance.

I've noticed this happening much more often in Multiplayer. Single Player I've only seen it a handful of times around Stage 20~.

I just had a scavenger die near a ledge and half his items were lost to the void including one legendary.

Why did you kill it there in the first place?
The chests and stuff, this is the generation fault.
But that.... this was your own fault...

fyi item sharing mods can fix this (either auto pickup after tele or on drop)
the items still exist they just aren't affected by out-of-map volumes

It's my fault it spawned near a cliff and subsequently died in the storm of homing projectiles?
