Item Counter
My friends and I like to split items fairly evenly, otherwise one person tends to hoard all of them. A simple fix for this would be to add a little counter for how many items each person has on the Tab overlay. It would be tremendously useful.

Thanks,

Holding Tab already lets you see what people have, as well as how many.

You never click TAB key?

There's no number though, you have to count them all manually.

Actually you can visually compare them. The distance between each item gets smaller with every new item gathered.

Why do you need an item counter is the real question?

You can't visually compare them if someone has more than one of some item. On monsoon after looping you're not exactly gonna have time to count. I'd say it's useful in multiplayer because if one person is hoarding items it's easy to see just by looking at the numbers. My friends and I like to stay equal.

Pay more attention to chat. It tells you how many someone has of a stack when they pick it up.

If you need a breather, go to the Bazaar. Time doesn't tick forward there and is accessible from the majority of stages.

I'd say it's useful in multiplayer because if one person is hoarding items it's easy to see just by looking at the numbers.

Except it doesn't. Someone having 4 Warbanners is far less useful than say, 4 MKIs or Will-o-Wisps. Both add to the total all the same.

My friends and I like to stay equal.

So use words, sentences and basic communication while applying 1st and 2nd grade math of adding.

Not to mention all the other problems with a number showing "Player has X items" will bring.

What's your problem? It's not like there's a downside to adding a simple counter - it's just quality of life. Maybe you wouldn't find it useful, that's fair enough. But I would, and a lot of others I know would too, and having that feature would not have any impact on your gameplay experience. You can just ignore the little number in the Tab menu.

having to manually count is a pain in the neck. it should just be on the side or something.

I don't understand why there's resistance to this idea, it is a great quality of life improvement for coop play. I like to have my hud scaled down, so counting items after stage 7+ becomes a hassle when all of em are so small in the tab menu. Overall item count is a good measure of power, especially since both players usually have at least one of all essential items after the first loop. It would just make it easier to see when to start gifting a few items. I've noticed if one of my friends or me get good rng early, the strong ends up having more income and opening more chests overall. same if im playing engi with a huntress or something, mobile survivors usually get to loot faster.

Anyway, totally interested in seeing this implemented.

Luckily, the game has a natural built in counter to one person hoarding all the items. It's called money.

Wrong, money is split evenly with the exception of blood shrines.

This change effects everyone, including idiots in random ques that would make them more toxic by screeching over the fact I have more items then them. You'll have to excuse me if I don't feel like getting kicked by morons that don't understand how to loot in a timely manner and whine about sitting on 500 gold by the end of Stage 1 with 2 items.

I've already explained in detail why this change isn't really worth while to add. Sorry I'm refusing to be part of your echo chamber and instead bring logic to why it shouldn't be added, nevermind the fact that total number of items is vastly unimportant vs what the items actually do for you.

Why do you have to keep protesting against the simplest of additions. Is it just because other players would benefit from it?

Regardless, you are being real elitist.

nah they are bring real casual. And people complain about items because ballance will help make everything fair. it's annoying when nobody knows what to get. so practicly unplayable in random queues esp if host ragequits.
1) Download "RoR2ModManager"
In settings put the game directory (where .exe is, if it says it doesn't find it there then retry, it will find it)
2) In there download R2API & BepInExPack (first 2 things listed there)
Just tick the boxes to the left then in the top click confirm changes and below tick the box 'Apply these changes" and click next and it will download them
3) Under "Filter" search for 'Item counters' and download it the same way
4) Your friends have to do all these things too
5) You have a mod that shows all the items

Here you can see screenshots on how it works: https://thunderstore.io/package/mrarm/ItemCounters/

Re-read my posts instead of going "REEE YOU DISAGREE WITH MY SUGGESTION!!!". It's clear as I can make it as to why this isn't something the game needs.

Regardless, you are being real elitist.

Suggesting them 1st grade adding skills be put to use sure locks out the majority of players from playing RoR2, right?
