Seed Editing and Custom Seed Generation
I come from a World of Warcraft background, so Risk of Rain 2 is like a non-stop raid for me. It's fun, engaging and challenging at nearly every point in the game. The Prismatic Trials are a fun side event to do, but I couldn't help but think of the endless possibility of seed editing and/or custom seed generation.

What are Seeds?
Seeds are a template that the randomly generated world uses. To think of it in simple terms, Minecraft uses procedural generation, and "builds" the template whenever you load the world for the first time. This means that all the spawns of mobs, geometry and anything else pertaining to the generated world is based off this code that the rest of the chunks refer to.
This might sound kind of complicated, it's really not. The important take-away is that the game uses a short code, which is really just a template that the game uses to generate it's world.
In Risk of Rain 2, the seed determines the item locations, item type, the variety of the map, the type of boss that spawns (or how many) at any given level.

What could I do by editing seeds?
Firstly, you could make your own customized adventure and challenge for you and your friends to run through. Maybe you want to run quad-Engineer, so for kicks you just add in a bunch of Warbanners, Bustling Fungi, and Soldier's Syringes on the first level so you can get a fun start to a run.
A step further, you could make challenging seeds for yourself, or make a more linear difficulty so that you don't go from fighting one Beetle Queen to fighting two Clay Dunestriders on the next level. That's a huge step in difficulty, and could be extremely hard, especially if you get unlucky on items.
Suppose you're a competitive guy like me, I personally would like to be able to edit and customize seeds so I could recreate challenging boss fights with a limited, but calculated set of items. For instance, if I were to do a solo run, I would find it challenging if I could limit myself to only certain items or choosing items that may fit my class better. The selection of items could even have a puzzle-esque role in the game, by trying to get the player to figure out, "How can I use this item to beat this boss?"
Then, imagine you beat this set of bosses, the rush is palpable, you're on the top of the mountain. Well crap. Now I want to brag about it. So you go online, and brag how you beat this custom seed that was difficult. Well these guys haven't played it before. So they try to get on that same, extremely hard seed and beat your time.

To conclude...
Having access to seed generation via the Steam Workshop, you could unlock literally limitless amounts of replayability for this game. It could unlock more fun, more boss combinations, or just total meme runs. Let's try to get this to the devs!

This is actually a really good idea! If we could get this in-game, it would be awesome.
