False Son permanently locking abilities

When False Son locks your abilities, sometimes it becomes impossible to unlock them, even after interacting with the golden trees that spawn around his arena during the final stage.
Very frustrating losing another extremely promising run to a bug like this.

Yes, the gold circle? I stood inside of it for a good few seconds but nothing happened.

I died during my run against the False Son, and my teammate continued through the portal... when i respawned, I could use all my skills, except for my equipment...I tried switching it out, gave it to an equipment drone (successfully), and then picked up another. All of them kept showing up with the Circle/Slash icon, and I could not activate it.
