Multiplayer Disconnects

I have a small group that occasionally plays this and we jumped in tonight to play some three player but on both of our runs, the non-host players got disconnected. One was area 6 and one on area 7. Different people hosted each run, and Discord voice and Steam friends never even showed a hiccup. The weirdest part was that we didn't drop; the remote players just stayed in the game and could continue running around and using abilities, but without effect. The only clue we got was that the host would get a disconnect message in in chat for each player at effectively the same time. Known bug, or are we doing something weird?

There is a reddit thread detailing this a bit. Some suggestions involve:

Turning off "Cross Play" in settings. And

Utilizing the lobby system instead of using Steam to get in the same lobby.

This problem has rarely happened to me, but one of my friends has it happen all the time, so he doesn't play much anymore. We are planning to try these "solutions" though
