Can't Play Multiplayer!!!

I have been trying to play multiplayer with my friends for a bit now and I can't join a lobby.
When I attempt to join a lobby it goes into character selection for a split second then kicks me back into the main menu OR It puts me into character selection but I cant see anything besides the characters and the menu on the right. It doesn't say that anyone is in the lobby at all or has connected to it and I can't even ready up. Any help would be appreciated.

I have read other forums and people have mentioned mods could be causing the issue but I actually have used mods before and the issue started then but now I have completely and manually uninstalled the mods from risk of rain 2 and I have also reinstalled risk of rain 2 4+ times and I still cannot get it working. I'm getting really frustrated I really need help

Bought the game and tried to join multiplayer. joined my friend's lobby and then he started the game. it went to black screen and was stuck there for a good 4 minutes.

also i coundnt pick any the other character.

Try to join my friend's game (or vice versa) but none of the buttons work (and you dont see the model of the character you selected.) Cant ready up.

If any of You Have GameFirst VI get rid of that crap. It has been causing me so many problems for many games especially when it comes to playing online. Not sure if that is what was causing me the problems but that sure as hell was doing it for many other games i've played.

I had to restart my Modem and set my DNS to point to my ISPs DNS server. Googles DNS should also work. For some reason it was kicking me out when it couldnt authenticate with one of steams servers. The DNS i had (9.9.9.9) wasnt resolving it for some reason.

Will try this tomorrow and update if it fixes mine or not. it'd be cool if we actually found a common fix, so far I've had nothing that works

bumping, any familiar solution ? can't play with friends lobby freezes characters dont switch huge delay etc..

Not sure if its the same problem but if so i would do this.

I also had a similar issue.
Day 2 of owning the game.
Day 1 a friend buys it for me. We end up playing for it for 4-6 hours overnight. I experienced no issues playing with a party of 4 during this time.

Day 2, I play some singleplayer the following morning, then in the evening, I try to play with friends again, but this time I experience issues. Long black screen joining the lobby and for game start. Or just everyone getting kicked to main menu. And if I DO get in the lobby, changing characters doesn't load quick as it should, or for friends, my model doesnt even load up for a couple minutes. Then I can't even ready up. And if the game does start, It takes at least 5 minutes for my pod to finally drop, and then I have an unplayable laggy experience myself. If I host instead of my friends hosting, then the roles are reversed for the most part.

And it's definitely not an internet problem for me either. As my ping and connection to everything is perfectly fine. Same for my friends, who can play together without me :/
I was able to join public lobbies and play just fine too, no connectivity issues there, so this issue makes no sense and is very frustrating considering a fix still doesn't seem to exist yet.

Have you checked if you possibly have GameFirst VI installed on your computer?

I've never even heard of that before seeing this forum conversation. To which I did take a look just in case, and I do not have that installed.

However, since the issue happened. The following day the issue seemed to have resolved itself? As I was able to play the game again, which i'm happy about.
I suppose my particular issue may have just been a server issue to my particular area? Or my connection to Risk of Rain specifically? Not sure.
