100% calculated engineer challenge bug
I started the teleporter event on stage 7 after setting two turrets down, and I immediately got the challenge to kill the teleporter boss in 5 seconds, even though there were 6 clay dunestriders spawning, alive, not dead.

Meanwhile I started the teleporter event on stage 14 after deploying my two turrets with 27x armour piercing items and had 3 charges of 'the backup' ready to go. A single Fire Golem boss spawned, I spammed my ability and got all those drones out, killed the boss in less than 3 seconds and I DID NOT get the challenge completed... haha. And yes it was just ONE golem boss. The objective to kill the boss was done after he fell.

The challenge seems to be bugged for me as well. I've been trying to get it since the update, and a numbers of times I felt like I should have gotten it, but didn't, and just assumed I was too slow.
However my most recent attempt, I had a bunch of armor-piercing rounds, my turrets buffed by a warbanner, and a preon accumulator with three charges from a couple of fuel cells, plus a bunch of other items like syringes and whatnot, and melted the stone titan that spawned on stage two in like 2-3 seconds, still didn't get it.
yep, still bugs...cannot unlock it even with 30 armor piercing rounds

Pretty sure the problem is that you specifically have to land the killing blow, not your minions.
that would be pretty problematic considering the design of the engineer

Yep. I don't know if that really is the case, but it sure as hell felt like it.

I unlocked this no problem but I was the sole attacker during this battle, no turrets.
I lucked out having a few chests/barrels near the teleporter and a dozen bundles of fireworks or so, a dozen armor piercing rounds, and a steady stream of missiles from disposable missile launcher equip (Loop - soulbound catalyst, gesture of the drowned and a few fuel cells) I didn't deploy my turrets for the fight and got the achievement.

This reminds me that the turrets don't Charge the teleporter, only the Engineer, so if they're under the same limitations as Happiness Mask minions or purchased turrets, then I suppose it wouldn't count as your own kill.

I might suggest, if you can work out the timing, re-deploy your turrents away from the boss just as its health gets low enough where you can handle the rest on your own with a barrage of mines or an equipment attack.

yeah just get him low, go somewhere else, redeploy your turrets, run back to the boss and finish him off.
"what was that? the challenge is to kill him in 5 seconds? oh-"

I had a Merc run that was really good for killing bosses, just straight up melted them. I did 3 or 4 teleporter events in a row obliterating the bosses under 5 seconds and still didnt get the challenge lmao

I came back to say that I realized that you guys were talking about the engie challenge one, while I was talking about the regular old 15 seconds challenge. Fortunately, I just got the 15s one with REX even though I was definitely killing the bosses faster on that merc run.

I know i am a bit late to this party, but my findings are this: the 5 second timer starts when you actually activate the teleporter. which leaves you with 2-3 actual seconds to kill the event.

basically, treat it like the Artificer challenge that requires you to kill the boss in a 1 second damage burst, with the added twist of "gotta do it the second they spawn", and you will get the challenge done

be prepared though, if doing it on drizzle and stacking yourself, you may be saddling up for a 1.5-3 hour run before you can obliterate the boss encounters that quickly.

I keep trying, I have no idea how I'm supposed to get the final blow on him and not my laser turrets... in 2-3 seconds.

Play on Drizzle, Look for Royal or Preon and focus on Crowbars/Anti round for more damage on boss. Go to the Bazaar and chose Rallypoint to always get a Preon on Stage 3. Drop all mines and unload your Royal/Preon when they/it spawns. Rinse and repeat until desired results.

If your turrets kill stealing the kill...stop placing your turrets and they won't steal your kill.
