I know what happened to seekers of the storm
The original developers likely had no intention of releasing this expansion but were approached by xbox to make an expansion for a fat cash bonus.
The game was then outsourced to some cheap code monkeys who promised the world and then completely half-assed everything and rushed it in the last month.

I mean there's no other way to explain how bad this expansion is given the quality of the base game and previous expansion. And then how the developers are coming back to try and "fix" everything with Seekers of the Storm 2.0.

So far I've only played the first new character it feels very unpolished, rushed and disconnected from the vibe of the rest of the game.

Why does the primary skill have 0 buffer between the combo hits? You literally have to hold the attack button or the combo breaks.

Why does the secondary skill not interact with enemy hitboxes? If you don't flick your mouse to the ground directly below an enemy you just miss.

The 3rd skill hasn't even been spell checked, it says exchange 20% damage per second when you actually exchange 20% health. There has been literally 0 quality assurance or play testing in this expansion. Complete rush job.

The final skill is just really weird and completely disconnected from the game.
You float up slightly above where you were, making you a sitting target and absolutely getting you killed in any high stage games.
Then you input a random sequence of keys which exists as a mechanic nowhere else in the game.

And the reward? A pathetic amount of damage in a pathetic radius and some silly buff encouraging you to spam this goofy skill the whole time. Let's be real, it's not even an ultimate, it does nothing "ultimate" it's just a buff harvester.

And the revive mechanic is also stupid. Why are you introducing a new skill which exists nowhere else in the game and is completely useless in solo games? And there's only 1 secondary skill to unlock, I guess they ran out of creativity for the other skills because it's too gimmicky?

The items are also lazy, unbalanced, unpolished and disconnected from the game. Almost all the items are meta-items which don't actually do anything themselves, they just modify existing game mechanics in stupid ways. The rest are broken and uncreative.

Knockback Fin, just stupid.

Bolstering Lantern, anti-synergy with pretty much half the items in the game.

Antler Shield, just a ghetto razor wire.

Chronic Expansion, bugged and anti-synergistic with playing the game (have to space out kills to keep the buff) also completely broken with the voodoo doll.

Warped Echo, bugged and broken.

Noxious Thorn, just a goofy ahh tri-tipped dagger

Sale Star, goofy meta-item

Chance Doll, goofy meta-item

Luminous Shot, goofy meta-item

Prayer Beads, goofy meta-item

Unstable Transmitter, just a ghetto Genesis Loop with a goofy teleport mechanic

Sonorous Whisper, goofy item farming meta-item

Growth Nectar, goofy meta-item

Electric Boomerang, just a ghetto Sawmerang, couldn't afford to make a new item I guess?

Runic Lens, just a ghetto Molten Perforator with the goofy Overspill mechanic

War Bonds, an abomination that never should have existed

Seed of Life, the one item I actually like as an alternative to Dio's Best Friend

Also almost every item doesn't even do what it's description say it does. Obviously there was zero feedback between people working on the item descriptions and the actual programmers. Because, again, it was a rush job done by code monkeys with zero quality assurance.

Close but no.
You're right that the original developers, Hopoo Games, had no part in developing Seekers of the Storm. But that's because after releasing Survivors of the Void, they sold the game and the IP to Gearbox.

Gearbox were already responsible for the horrible console port. So the part where you're wrong is the "Xbox" part and the "outsourced code monkeys" part. It's just Gearbox screwing up another game/IP they bought from another developer.
