Razor wire; Your constantly doing damage to yourself with almost all your attacks, So having an item that lashes out when you get damaged is a no brainer. Only people using hellfire should contest you on this,
Medkit: helps keep your HP manageable even in the heat of an action. Useful because self damage
Tougher Time/teddy bear: if it triggers, you dont hurt yourself...yay!...granted this item is good on LITERALLY EVERYONE
Death Mark: Rex has 2 rebuff moves in his kit, his flower suck, and the debuff on his primary attack. So getting the death mark to trigger will be easy.
N'kuhana's opinion: You have a very reliable way to heal yourself, and this method will trigger skulls to fire out constantly, the only person who should take priority over getting this item over you, is stationary turret engi.
Hard Light afterburner, while your base shift may not be that special, at the very least with hardlight it can actually let you "fly" a bit. But if you have the alt shift, you now have a VERY reliable shotgun that has 3 charges, and heals you a CRAP TON every time its used....oh, and on certain maps, shift in general turn you into the YEET machine.
As the REX post to add on:
Crit Items(i.e Lens Makers Glasses, Harvester Scythe, and Predatory): Crit items, particularly scythes are an amazing idea for REX as he is a tanky dps survivor that relys on leech and health for his dmg to his kit.
Old War Stealthkit: Self-damaging abilities count as a potential proc to OWS. So get 10 of these and you will be stealth for a long time.
Any healing items(Reje Rack, Medkit, Leeching Seed, etc.): Any healing helps with his kits.
Mobility items(Paul Goat Hoof, Hopoo Feather, Energy Drinks, etc.): REX really lacks good mobility so he needs a bit of help with some mobility items.
Strides of Hersey: Its helps regen, makes you untargetable, and give you way more mobility
Some Acrid Build Ideas:
Bleed(Tri-Tip or Shatterspleen); Procs very well with his passive(posion not blight) and helps with his cc since his ult does have a proc coeffient.
AoE Items: Particularly Gasoline, Will-o-Wisp, Ukulele, etc. This helps boosts his cc so its pretty simple why u should take these.
Old Gullotine: Helps with elites who cant die from your Posion passive.
Purity: While he cant really proc on hit items when he has this, his secondary cooldown goes down by a long and helps him just spam m2(i hope you go ranged m2.)
Vision/Strides of Hersey: Situational Picks, but both good on Acrid. Visions can make him a full range character since he has no business of being a melee character. If you dont like his shift, try Strides. Its helps regen, makes you untargetable, and give you way more mobility.
Mobility items: While his mobility is ok, he could use some help with some items.
Cooldown items; Acrid need some cooldown for his abilities and equipment so its really helps him out overall. I recommend Soulbound Catalyst and Brainstalks.
Death Mark and Debuffs: Dead giveaway you have a debuff and death mark can help you increase your overall dps. Get Chronobauble, Shattering Justice, Tri-Tip or Shatterspleen, and your already procing Death Mark.
Crit: Its gud for everyone so why not?
Fresh Meat: it makes him look cute.
And thats really all I could recommend to you
Some backup magazines really help you spread the poison around.
Other than that i usually go very defensive
If you get the chance get the voodoo doll equipment to proc these on kill things on bosses. very underestimated item for acrid.
Visions of heresy lunar item gives him a ranged attack. but these are only good when you get 3/4 of them.
Rex is my least favorite surviver but has really easy access to the 4 debuffs to proc deathmark. This is never a bad thing to get.
I dont like the utility ability much (personal prefference, its not actually bad or anything). So i try to get a couple strides of heresy for easy movement and healing.
You want too spam barrage seed since its really good, so any healing items are nice.
They proc bands but i prefer AtG missiles if you really want to use it as your main damage.
Since it costs health, healing really scales your dmg in a way.
If you prefer playing with the "drill" secondary ability i would go more with proc items as it hits 12 times with 0,5 proc. So 6 procs per cast. So Bleed daggers, stickys, backup magazines. A bandoleer or 2 to reset cooldowns for more casting.
Dare to be the dog who never stops running.
Also ceremonial daggers are great on everything as I used them in all my monsoon runs
For high priority white items we mostly just want AP rounds and goat hooves, other then that its the standard fair for survivability items like armor plates, medkits and the like.
AP rounds boost our poison damage against bosses, stack these hard as bosses cant outscale its damage output
We want goat hooves more then energy drinks, energy drinks affect our leap more then goat hooves if we use it while already sprinting, which can cause our leaps to become unwieldy and potentially dangerous.
For high priority green items we want Rose Bucklers and Old Guillotines.
Rose Bucklers are desirable as all our options to inflict poison can be used while sprinting, in our utilities case it forces us into a sprint state anyway, so we can maintain it under all circumstances while still fighting back.
Old Guillotines let our poison destroy elite enemies much more efficiently AND be capable of dealing the killing blow, this combos very well into later game runs as bosses will start spawning as elites too, effectively multiplying how fast we can deal with bosses with AP rounds and poison.
We dont really have a high priority red as Acrid, as not much really boosts our abiity to deal poison damage in a realistic manner, that said a Hard Light Afterburner and shattering justice are the two most useful reds we could want.
Hard Light Afterburner gives us plenty of extra mobility horizontally and vertically, while also letting us stun enemies more frequently, stack more acid pools under bosses and make quick escapes when necessary.
Shattering Justice reduces armor by 60 when its active, and believe it or not poison damage is affected by armor, however due to our rather low output rate of individual attacks we have great difficulty in actually getting the status to trigger, so if playing with others it might be better to let them grab it instead.
The only high priority yellow we want is little disciple, as said before we can be sprinting 100% of the time so its useful to have these to clear off troublesome targets like lesser wisps that are more effort for us to deal with then we like to use.
As for lunar items, many are situationally useful, however Mercurial Rachis boost all damage we deal by 50% while we are in its range, including our poison damage, its not necessary to stack it though.
The last items we want really depend on getting them all at once, otherwise they have little to no impact.
These are 7 Tri-Tip Daggers, 1 Chronobauble and at least 1 Death Mark, with these a single Shattering Justice becomes a high priority red as any amount of stacks before triggering still count as our 4th debuff, triggering death mark and letting our poison deal 50% more damage.
Effigy of Grief and Spinel Tonic are the only utilities we can directly use to influence our poison damage.
Effigy of Grief applies a debuff that reduces armor by 20, its also its own unique debuff and can be substituted for any other missing item to make use of Death Mark.
Spinel Tonic Grants a 100% increase in damage outright while active, which affects our poison. It also happens to increase passive health regeneration by 300% and max health by 50%, the third strike from our melee attack triggers a short term passive regeneration worth 10% of our maximum health over 1 second and is affected by this as well, letting us regenerate significant portions of our now increased health pool in seconds, but without a significant stack of Fuel Cells/Gesture of the Drowned we cant maintain the uptime of it and will risk exposing ourselves to Tonic Affliction stacks.
The only item we outright avoid at all times is shaped glass, it boosts BASE DAMAGE, not raw damage, our poison damage is does not interact with our base damage meaning we cant boost it with shaped glass, since poison ends up becoming more and more prominent in runs when they go bad its best to never bother with it as Acrid, as a good run will make all of these priority items lacking, while a bad run will see you survive unbelievably terrible odds if you can play it right.
