Risk of Rain 2
Game Modding question, is thunderstore safe to use (by mod site standards)?
I've been wanting to mod this game since I bought it, but the only place i can find mods for it is thunderstore and whenever I try to find out how risky the site is I kept seeing mixed answers. Some say it's fine, others say it has any combination of adware bloatware or spyware, some say to just avoid the branded mod manager and that the site itself is legit, I can't seem to find any agreement on how reputable thunderstore is.

I'm not new to modding in general, I've used Nexus for close to a year now for other games and I'm well aware no site is 100% safe, but for other sites there's usually a clear answer to how "safe" a site is, an answer i haven't found for thunderstore. So with that massive preamble out of the way, is thunderstore safe by mod site standards?

Thunderstore is the main place for RoR2 mods and R2Modman is the main mod launcher, which pulls from Thunderstore. I've never encountered anything malicious from there aside from one mod automatically connecting me to an IRC client, but that's since been removed. I'd say the "Thunderstore App" the advertise is bloatware because it is tied to Overwolf, which I would consider bloatware.

I would go to Thunderstore, grab R2Modman, follow the instructions, then game on. Should be easy to get it hooked onto RoR2 and it should grab any dependencies you may need.
