Is there an easier way to do this than being at the mercy of RNG?
I have gotten close to killing him, i've killed him, i've looped and gone back to kill him.
But the golden portal never spawns so it feels like i'm wasting runs trying to get to him. He's by far the most frustrating survivor i've had to unlock so far because it's not even a matter of skill in killing him.
If anyone has any tips, tricks, cheats, mods, let me know so I can be done with this slog

Play on Drizzle, Command Artifact, Get a friend to help, Have only the seeker expansion on and hope the ror 2 gods let you have gold portal early and not late where enemies will destroy you(If you have a good build that kills everything then your good).

seconding what Sox said. Drizzle and command gets it done the quickest. Still at the mercy of RNG a little bit with the Gold Portal. You can also use the Bazaar to check if theres choose the gold coast in there as well.
