Good news is that you need to deal 500,000% with a single Sojourn explosion, but not necessarily on a single target. In other words, aim at a bunch of enemies close to each other and the amount of damage you need to deal per enemy drastically decreases. Remember that the damage has to come from Sojourn's explosion, damage from items proc'd by sojourn doesn't count, so forget about ATGs, bands, or anything like that. Crowbars, crystals, and watches act as multipliers during damage calculation, not as separate procs nor buffs to your base stats, so grabbing a few crowbars makes this challenge significantly easier.

What I don't understand is how to survive long enough to deal maximum damage. I have plenty of items that increase or reduce damage, but it feels like I can only last about 10 seconds. After that, my character starts taking a lot of damage

The easiest way that I found to unlock it, was using Aegis, The void variant of Bungus, and items reducing damage ( armor plate, etc ) for survivability, and, like said by Lordclipsus, using a lot of crowbars, focus crystals, watches, and anything else that give a damage increase.

And if you still don't deal enought damage you can still add one or more oddly shaped glasses ( just be sure that you can survive enought time before picking it up )

Put on Artifact of Command, grab 1 Watch, 1 AP Round, 1 Focus Crystal, and then stack Crowbars as high as you can. Full loot the stage and hit the Teleporter. Fly around with Sojourn until the damage starts to ramp up beyond 1 per tick and blow up on the boss. You should get the unlock by stage 2 or 3. Be careful not to break the Watch and make sure you're at max stacks of Tranquility.

Sojourn's duration was heavily, and I mean HEAVILY nerfed on the latest patch. As a reference, a lvl 20 Seeker with 7 RAPs could fly 140 seconds before this patch, now with the same items and lvl she can fly 12 seconds. This is caused by a new self-damage scaling, that adds 100% to her self-damage after 6 seconds of flight, and another 100% every 3 seconds afterwards. Since her base self-damage scales with her level, and her self-damage multiplier scales with flight time, it effectively scales exponentially. Neither RAPs nor HP stacking can keep up with it, so focusing on extending flight time is pointless past level 1, where a single RAP extends flight time by 6 seconds.

If you are struggling and don't mind using lunars/artifacts for the sake of getting the achievement, then there's a strategy you can use:

Put on command, swarms, and preferrably kin. Honor might help too.
As soon as you spawn, find a shrine of blood, use it, and get a roll of pennies from a small chest. You need this in order to get money without killing any enemies. Do not kill any enemies, leveling up makes this challenge harder. Farm money by getting hit, retreating to heal with your ult, and repeating. Make sure not to hit any enemies with your ult. Kin is there so you can reset until you get a stage with beetles, the easiest enemy to avoid, and honor allows you to get a lot of money out of a single hit from a fire elite.
As soon as you can afford it get a RAP. It will help you farm and extend your Sojourn. The reason you don't wanna level up is so a single RAP is enough to lower your self-damage to 5 per second.
Buy every chest you find. White items (after the roll of pennies and the first RAP) will all be crowbars. Green items whould be sale stars in order to get more crowbars.
Once you have every item on the stage, start the teleporter. The mob cap is of 40 enemies, normally, but the TP bypasses it, so you can get a bigger swarm out of it. Once the enemies are grouped up together, use your ult to get some barrier (again making sure not to hit anyone with it, don't use it otherwise), start Sojourn and fly low in circles over the swarm, trying to get as many enemies as possible with the explosion.

That should do it. Exploding prematurely would damage the enemies and make the crowbars pointless, same thing with damaging them through your ult, so try not to let that happen. If you are not finding opoortunities to heal with your ult wihout damaging enemies, then it is worth sacrificing a crowbar to get a cautious slug/bungus. Might take a couple of tries all in all, but it's all done in stage 1 so each try should be relatively quick, even if it sounds like a long setup.

That just killed my motivation to unlock the power. It's such an anti-fun experience. Just to unlock a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ useless power.

I mean, you can also just get it by playing normally, but it would take longer and requires more skill. Stack enough damage items and you will eventually deal the 500000% damage. There's been a few threads asking for advice on how to get this achievement in particular, so I did some testing on a fresh profile and came out with this strat as an easy and quick out for players that can't survive long enough to get this achievement normally.

Reprieve is far from useless. Honestly I think it's infinitely better than Sojourn.

Also you don't need all that. Just follow my explanation for a much simpler unlock.
