Extra stacks will stack more soul energy increasing the damage of each orb as you will have more soul energy.
Extra healing should make it fire more often but each shot will be lower damage.
There are reasons for either method, but in general, you could go either way. No particular major advantage for either method. There might be reasons why the stacked N'Kuhana's opinions don't really raise the damage much, so maybe going with the healing is better, but it would be a numbers and stats answer that you wouldn't exactly notice while in the middle of the game.
