Why Does Everyone Use the Command Artifact?
Every time I go into multiplayer every lobby has it. Am I the only one who finds Command more annoying than useful? I don't really want to have to stop and think about choosing my items. I get you can make your build however you want but I feel like that takes part of the fun out of the game and just makes it kind of boring.

They want to build into godhood. What's wrong with that? It's the point of the game. But why be forced into crappy choices?

You the guy who used to play RC?

RC?

Yeah, sorry, it's RoboCraft. There was a dude on the forums who used to crack me up. Different emblem though.

People tend to be like using Command because game (wich is roguelite) seems to be hard sometimes - "no bears, unfair" or "I need more crits, not goat leggy legs" oftenly ruins people's target to be OP killing machine from builds. That's classical in any RPG where people tend to grind weeks only to make proper PvP/PvE build to maximize their powers.

Risk of Rain is not RPG.

I purley play without Command even when it is an official part of the game like other artifacts and I enjoy being a punching bag of great RNG - it makes me even stronger because of pure need to adapt to each situation, loadout and anything what game can throw to you.

P.s. hour ago I had random run as Arti. Had lot of health stuff and some protection but my main "sword" was 13 tri-daggers, 2 glass swords and a flamethower to use them. Had enough fun even after got oneshot by a malachite whisp. #noartifactgang

Vanilla runs and Command runs are both be fun, but if you want to have fun with command, I recommend playing a bunch of vanilla first to learn all the items and what they do. Once you know what each item does, then you can play command runs already knowing which items you want, and when, for whatever your vision of the final product is. Once you reach that point of item knowledge, then playing command doesn't slow you down, but speeds you up dramatically by cutting out the rng and letting you craft a powerful build very quickly.

I don't think that purposal cutting of RNG part of the game barley makes you any stronger - we are living in 21 centurity where internet has been invested and the magical power of constant lack of knowledge about the game is compensated by that "mastermind" - just Google/YT it.
Making stronger builds via Command is bad in general because how they are perfect and constant yet original game is all about RNG - it is specially made so you should adapt and overcome from all what you can got - even from 5 blossoms and 6 whips on stage 4.

The command artifact was in original RoR1 too, it's not the 'vanilla gamemode', but it and all the artifacts (and any combination thereof) are a valid way to play. Some people prefer to play with heavier or lighter rng elements. and when i made reference to strength, i wasn't referring to player skill, but actual character power. command artifact is a nice way to have a fun and chaotic power trip, see just how fast you can complete a run, or try out strange item interactions.

I'm not judging how people play games, atleast SP one - they brought the game and they can do anything with it if this doesen't cut the fun of other games.
I just don't like that some people prefer to play with Command each time they start the game - every time I open lobby lists I see like 70% of games using Command, Sacrifice and Swarms, sometimes combined together. Mostly those lobbies are full of mercs, MUL-Ts, Engineers who build the same build and when random kills them on monsoon they ragequit including host.

Some people just don't want to increase their adaptiveness to any problems. And yeah, I don't judge people who use command to make funny stuff like making army of squidwards, going into sonic mode or breaking the game with unconventional way.

P.s. the last time I used Cmd was testing RoR: Special delivery for all new items.

i use it all of the time in singleplayer, normally with friends we will play vanilla
Tzenka 26 AGO 2020 a las 3:35 a. m.
This artifact made me lose interest in the game.
I take it as if I finished the game, and this is the reward that helps you to get to 100%.
Cheddarhead 26 AGO 2020 a las 10:09 a. m.
I'd say it's used for a more organized run, possibly to test how items behave when they act or possibly even just to mess around. I look at it as a sandbox type thing

I would love to see the stats of people who use Artifact of Command versus people who play the way GOD intended.

I mean this: I am willing to bet the Artifact of Command people will not be playing this game in 2 weeks, maybe 1 month tops, because unbeknownst to them, the Artifact of Command actually destroys (completely) the design intent of this game.

Risk of Rain 2 is essentially about turning Lemons into Lemonade. Maybe on run you get lucky and get god items, but the real fun is turning total ♥♥♥♥ into something workable.

In more academic terms, The Artifact of Command makes the difference between Risk of Rain 2 being a "Game" and it being a "Toy"

Games are defined by rules and having a failure state. Toys are not. Artifact of Command turns RoR2 into a toy. That's fine if you're into it. But let's not pretend you as a player are gaining anything out of it substantial.

I wont be playing RoR2 in a month's time with or without artifact of command, I don't have the time to play one game forever, no matter how good it is.

What a stupid thing to say.

Like seriously, you DO have time to play Risk of Rain 2 for a month or more. You are CHOOSING not to. (Unless you're going to like, die in September, in which case, Preemptive RIP/F)
