Also id rather spend 100% of the time in a run playing the game instead of spending 10% of it choosing items in a badly sorted menu
You go on to multiplayer every time you play and see the exact same boring "command/swarm/sacrifice" run lobbies, it was fun at first but gets boring fast when every run is predictable and op, and there's zero need for managing your items because everything you get is the best anyways.
It's not that the RoR2 community is toxic, it's that they're just sick of seeing it.
If you go to the reddit, discord, community discords, etc then you'll see a lot of really nice people willing to help you out, they'll still be tired of "I got a super OP build with command" but they're still good people in a nice community.
But also yes, the steam forums, regardless of what game it is, will always be a toxic cesspool that will only net frustration in the end if you stay here for prolonged periods of time.
The steam forums is never a good, not even a remotely good example of any community.
They're a community of their own, seperate from the rest usually
People threatening your life, throwing slurs at you or telling you to kill yourself is toxic.
People disagreeing with you on a forum in reaction to you complaining about something isn't really toxic, it's to be expected. what comments are you feeling "shafted by"? 3 comments saying "of course AOC makes broken builds" in a slightly aggressive tone? is that really "toxic"?
As others have said, risk of rain, like many RNG heavy progression roguelikes is not balanced, and it certainly is not intended to be.
if you did not have one item be worth drasticailly more, or drastically less than another or the average, the thrill of "omg i just got a behemoth!" would be gone, because every item would be equally useful in their own situation or way. that's not really fun, at that point you're just going through the motions and you might as well not run items at all.
artifact of command is a cheat tool to give to players who want to experience the game in a different way, a certainly more easy way, but also lets them make creative and amusing gameplay scenarios. but you can NOT expect hoppo to balance the game around the assumption you are running AOC, as in that case NOT running AOC would make the game physically impossible with out making it stale.
Think about this for a second, and you'll see why people are so hostile to what you are asking for, you are literally asking hoppo to destroy all that makes the game good.
i hope this makes more sense to you, also please stop calling people toxic because they disagree with you, that's really immature
