Been looking for someone to mention this. Another thing to note is that the Mired Urn affects and damages all allies. This includes other players in multiplayer, drones, engineer's turrets, etc. The last one was very annoying when I got the mired urn with the engineer's mobile turrets, so they kept following me around and we'd continuously drain and slow each other down.

I believe the Urn is supposed to drain from your allies as well; I think it's the nature of the tar. It consumes all - friend and foe alike.

As for your allies attacking you, I'm not sure that's an oversight. My guess is that the developers set you as your own 'faction', which could be why allies attack you. Whether this is deliberate or not, I'm not sure.

It could be tied into the lore, we know that the tar corrupts or changes entities, right? It's referenced in the logbook entry for the Abandoned Aqueduct. The Dunestriders consume friend and foe alike.

Perhaps the beetle guard and gold fella attack you sensing the tar's corruption? ;)

Really should be a lunar item if it's gonna hurt teammates IMO

Thats a pretty insane downside for a non-lunar item though.. I agree with Oreos, if its gonna hurt teammates and make drones etc attack you, make it a lunar item.

Yeah, that's a fair point. I generally play solo, so it hasn't been too much of a problem for me. I can imagine it being frustrating with allies, though.

glad i didnt get flack for this post ! i hope the devs take a peek at it and do some sort of workaround .. little bit of life steal is nice and all ... but for now this item will be first to make scrap haha
Grumpy Old Guy 16 AGO 2020 a las 20:47
Agreed, if the item has a downside it should be a lunar item. That's the entire point of lunar items is that they have downsides. Nothing else in the game item wise that isn't lunar can hurt your team.

Ok so when me and my friend both got one in a run, we both realized that Aurelionite was attacking us instead of the monsters. But at that time it didn't hurt either of us, but worked as an AOE to deal with the melee monsters that came to us.

Although I don't think the Urn is meant to cause enemies to attack you as when the clay dunestrider does it, the enemies don't attack the pot, so I think it is a bug.

Have a good rest of your guys' and ladies' day!
DookieShoes 17 AGO 2020 a las 2:42
Yes i should have stated it wasnt actually doing damage to me ... but the beatle guards were blocking 2/3s of my shots haha

Making it a lunar item would turn a lot of the game into a cake walk for life drain, it was probably bumped to boss items because those have a significantly lower chance of spawning. Item frequency has to be taken into effect for balance.

The downside only really comes into effect for characters like the engineer, or online multiplayer. During both of those situations, just don't grab it.

Came here after a few bad experiences with that item..
If you have no friendly summon or isn't playing online it's a great item, 10/10 but the bugs just kill it for me.. I went into some testing about it and like probably everyone already know:

1. Any kinda of friendly summon or player gets hit by the Urn, summons don't seem to be much affected by it, they just get the movement debuff but allies can get killed..
2. Yeah, don't run this on Engie, your sentries can drain YOUR health and get you killed..

I don't even pick this item up anymore and when I do I scrap it..

I would think it would be great on an engineer, as the sentries will drain each other (but heal it back) activating razor wire, and more healing into opinion stacks.
