If it's not your first time, then why did you pick it up? xD
Hope this helps!
You actually _can_ do bosses with it. The Benthic Bloom analogy is very accurate, as they share the same down side - that is, removing your mobility items (Egocentrism has the added down side of removing your reds, though). You just need to be playing a survivor with built-in mobility (Loader is the best there, I did runs with Artificer, Acrid and Merc would at times benefit from it as well, and some others can run with it as a challenge).

The answer to the original question, of course, is already given as Cleansing Pools (and it's actually great to Egocentrism into a Cleansing Pool in a run, and may be the best use case for it, especially if you run into a yellow printer later on). Mods of course, allow you to do anything, and there are mods that allow you to drop items; I don't know if you can drop Lunars (with existing ones), though.
I think Egocentrism is one of the few viable lunars, though. Don't dismiss it, just try and work out how and when to use.
(When not playing commando)
Unless cleansing pool.
