Honestly, just mod your game
False Son is just paladins handicapable little brother.

Seeker is Snoozer

Chef is basically just the modded version. One just looks better now (Dlc one)

Items are ok I guess but modded items do what most of these do already.

If you don't want the achievements, honestly just save your money and mod the game for free.

I mean, OP ain't wrong.

Sounds like the dlc made modding a pain in the ass for modders. You will have a better experience downpatching your game to the pre dlc version and just adding mods.

i would mod the game if my 110 mods were updated, but as it currently is, the game still crashes and some of my favourite mods (like driver) are deprecated and i have little hope it'll get updated

the only thing DLC has over mods are maps. Maps, due to some technical difficulty take too much effort, so you are essentially buying bunch of mods and packet of maps.

At this very moment i think i'd rather have mods, than DLC, even though new maps are ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ amazing

It's not that it is a pain in the ass, but that the modders have to pretty much totally remake all of their mods to work with Unity 2021. This sucks for the mods made by people who are no longer part of the modding community anymore. We just lost a ton of extra playability with this patch.

The gearbox version of chef looks worse and plays worse. They turned it into claptrap. The mod version is infinitely superior aside from maybe glaze being a little too fast.

Well-made game does not need mods to work. Stardew valleu works good as vanila

you can't downpatch risk of rain 2. the depot files for previous versions of the game have been restricted and hidden from public access for as long as the game has gotten updates. i tried when the merc skin update was added and was shocked at just how hard hopoo and gearbox collectively worked to make version accessibility so bad.

Yea, I had no interest in this dlc other than saving my 100% progress and some new items, cheated in all the unlocks to give them a test/try and was hyper underwhelmed. I have way more actual hours playing this game both vanilla and modded. Tried out a significant portion of mods that change or add basically anything to the game.

Every item I tested/read I recall a mod existing for it ages ago in some form or just a better version of it. The characters feel like they were just snatched off thunderstore and sprinkled a few changes on.

Yes it can be done with modes but people like to play with their friends who might not want to go through the hassle of moding their game. Why are people so divided you can still have mods and seekers of the storm and having chef ith the game normally means he can still be played if the game gets updated without the mod developer updating their mod, I've seen many good mods get abandoned do you rember better UI. That got abandoned almost a year ago and it was a mod almost everyone used.

266 hours in game on PC and more on console, DO listen to OP. This DLC is a shame and a disappointment to the franchise. The new elites are borderline dysfunctional (Gildeds are stealing gold from proximity not attack and the Twisted elites are fundamentally a bad addtion for a variety of reasons)

The new characters are either painfully weak single-target (Seeker), horrendously bad hitboxes (Chef), or disappointingly poor animations (False Son)

Most of the new stages are almost objectively worse in-run than getting the usual ones due to their size or gimmicks, and several of the new items are gimmicky bloat or aggressively overtuned.
