ROR2 base vs dlc
I've heard that ROR2 is a great game, however I've heard that the Seekers of the Storm Dlc is mediocre and also broke a bunch of stuff. I'm interested in playing with a friend, does anyone know if I can buy the base game and maybe the void dlc without having the issues the Storm dlc introduced?

when a game is updated with a dlc it usually comes with gameplay changes and patches for the non-dlc players
so you will get the bugs sorry :c
ive heard that there are mods that fix those issues though, and modding is easy (and not banned for this game)

The major issues that people have complained about have already been fixed in the base game. The remaining complaints are too many elites in Monsoon and some collision clipping (I've only noticed this with enemies and not my player). Most other complaints exist only in the SotS DLC. There is a major patch planned to resolve most of the remaining issues, but no word on exactly what or when.

the DLC did not break anything, the update that came with it did.

Balance-wise it did.
base game + sotv + mods (bug fixes, maybe some qol too) = really playable experience imo

DLC brought plenty of useless items to the item pool, which means more useful old items drop less often

I think it's pretty good. Just get base game + Void DLC. Ignore the latest one. You will still need to fix the game with mods. There are two huge problems that Gearbox can't be bothered to deal with, elite type enemies spawn too often and people keep disconnecting from the game.
Mods to fix them:
- DropinMultiplayer (you can't not get disconnected, but with this just two clicks and you are rejoining)
- EliteCostFix

Don't fix the game, there is nothing that isn't broken or bad content in the last patch, just roll back the entire game to devotion update

Honestly last time I played I straight up rolled back to pre-sotv. Game felt like it was at it's peak before any of the DLC.

The fact you need those mods at all is an issue. What kind of game in a fully playable state becomes unplayable after an update along with a DLC release. That should not happen at all, if anything only the DLC additions should be buggy not the base game.

kinda sad tbh that garbox caused this and due to the update requiring the game to be linked with the dlc its kinda a must
