Which DLC to buy
Hello,
I've wanted to play this game for a while, and with the black friday sales I wanted to know before buying if there was some DLC that were a must, especially concerning mod compatibility. Should I buy them all or can I just buy survivor of the void ? Seekers of the storm is expensive and doesn't have good review too, is it that bad ?

Thanks in advance

All mods should be compatible with all DLC. If they aren't compatible, then it likely means they weren't updated to the latest version to begin with. You can enable and disable the DLC at any time. You can also play with friends even if they don't have your set of DLC or if they have more than you, only restriction is people can't play DLC characters of DLC they don't have.

Survivors of the Void is good though it makes things a little harder with some of the enemies it adds. I recommend getting it but disabling it while you get the hang of the game; it is good to have solid vanilla knowledge so that you can take on or work with what it adds better.

Seekers of the Storm is lackluster and not worth it right now. The majority of the negative reviews are due to an update that released the same day as SotS which caused tons of issues (such as too many elite enemies on hard and tying physics to FPS), leading to people voicing their issues on the DLC page. The vast majority of those issues have been fixed thankfully. However, despite that most of what the DLC adds is mid (majority of the items aren't exciting or don't synergize with much), bad (Warped Echo and Unstable Transmitter are sometimes detrimental and Twisted elites punish you for playing the game as intended), or Sale Star and Sonorous Whispers (top tier items). There are plans to completely rework the SotS to be worth it, but that won't be for another few months.

If you're picking one or the other, obviously pick the void. Void dlc good. Seekers bad. In fact, if you're choosing yes/no (and not one over the other) for each dlc, then seekers is still a no. Just avoid it. I wouldn't buy it at 1$.

^Maybe not leading with 'all mods compatible with all dlc' but otherwise, what he said. The vast majority of modders create mods for the most updated version of the game with every dlc in mind. Even terrible dlc's like seekers are treated like the baseline (with all the bad stuff patched out/fixed by modders). We modders do this because we don't want to have to redo any of the work in the future, and we know that even if we don't fix the bad parts, some one else will.

Survovors of the void
Don't listen to anyone else that says seekers of the storm
get that trash fire when it has been updated and fixed

Dlcs almost the same (new items + new boss + locations/music + 2 new playable char)
For me survivors of the void better.
Just check out these new void shrooms and "legendary" armor penetrate item (when playing as captain weow synergy) :wowsshock: ))

Both are good, but if you have to choose between one or the other, start with Survivors of the Void. SotV is in a more polished and balanced state, whereas Seekers of the Storm still needs improvement which the devs have already announced is in the works.

Both aren’t good, SotS in its current state is bad.

Subjective opinion is subjective.

I like the False Son and Seeker survivors. I also think the 4 new zones and boss fight to be pretty cool. I like some of the items such as Sale Star and Sonorous Whispers. And finally, I really like the Artifact of Sacrifice.

Are there things that need to be nerfed and buffed? Sure, but I'm not focusing solely on that and thinking the DLC isn't worth it.

*I meant to say SotV was good, but the DLC is bad. The DLC still overall objectively bad. It is not worth it at all. 15$ for a terrible boss fight, terrible elites, mostly worse than useless items that dilute the item pool making good items less common, and weak survivors (except False Son but they are very unpolished). Also note that there’s no run changing mechanic like SotV’s void item tier, it’s just more of the same style of RoR content. The only good parts of the DLC are the new stages, music, and a couple of the new items, but it’s not worth it just for those either.
