Development resumed?

Title? Awhile back I remember they said they were stopping development to work on risk of rain returns which really wasn't that great, but I see they're still updating this so does that mean they back tracked orrr?

Hopoo Games isn't developing this game any more - their last Risk of Rain project was Risk of Rain Returns. Gearbox has taken on development of the next expansion, but have neglected to provide a release date. Note, as well, that they've been bought and sold a few times since the expansion was announced. I honestly doubt it will be released at any point, and what we have seen of it so far indicates to me that it was going to be something fairly different from Hopoo's vision of the series.

In short, don't expect anything further from this game. Honestly, it's fine as it is.

They released the Devotion update, so I expect they will release the next update. Theres certainly been work done on it, and I doubt theyd want to just lose money by not releasing it at all. Remember, Gearbox worked on Survivors of the Void, and Hopoo said they dont want to work on it anymore, so Hopoos vision doesnt really matter anymore. Theres nothing wrong with being happy with the game in the state it is, im glad you feel that way. But I, and many others, definitely want more. At the very least more bug fixes

They keep posting teasers on Twitter and you can listen to parts of the soundtrack on YouTube. It's definitely not dead
