His final phase is actually way easier than it used to be(outside of killing him before it even begins)
His attack pattern is pretty straight forward and, if everything else fails, his pathing is pretty derp and you can just stand on a rock (not even talking about the huge collums) and click on him till he's dead.
And that's coming from a pretty mediocre player who never finished a single monsoon run because he sucks at this game.
The reason some (me at least) have a problem with him is that his sphere attack that can come from behind oneshot you. (even with the "immunity" since he most likely stole an item that does tick dmg after the hit)
i honestly like most of the fight, i just wish he was maybe a lot harder to dodge but did around 20% of his dmg since a bossfight that oneshot you in a roguelite is just not fun.
That's because most players refuse to be patient and take their time so instead of moving their camera around to keep track of the balls they just attack him 24/7 and then they get angry that a sphere hit them from behind when they didn't bother to look at them in the first place.
The homing stuff can be dodged by literally just running in a direction.
I honestly still don't get how people complain about that attack.
I have to wonder; how do melee builds get past this?
personally after the first encounter I began to find him easy even on Monsoon.

to OP: If you want to just beat Mithrix, go into the fight as soon as you can. Get about mid range and run circles around him while shooting--try to get back as many items as you can before you drop your turrets inside your bubble. If you're playing with harpoons just start running as soon as he steals your stuff and chill on the ramps. Try to come in with some kind of heal equipment or the Royal Capacitor if you want to just cheese him.
You can dodge the shots he does by running directly perpendicular to him as he shoots, for the orbs just back up, jump, and pray they don't decide to ram into you from offscreen. Mithrix is pretty easy, but he's insanely punishing if you're not used to the massive speed decrease in the last phase.
I never even noticed any animation before he fires that warns you, I fought him so many times that I just start running before he fires instinctively.
Still not an attack that deserves complaining at all when it comes to dodging. I can understand if people are angry at getting instakilled but not being able to dodge that is entirely on the player.
It has come to my attention that I probably push myself into harder positions. I usually don't initiate the final boss until I've acquired all the items I think I need, but I now realize you CAN'T beat the boss if you fight him after Round 5. Perhaps I didn't have the right expectation trying to fight the boss in an impossible state on Monsoon.
I don't know what you're talking about. Mithrix isn't impossible at any point and especially not as early as stage 5.
