Is there an effect of lunar items on the run?
So far, I noticed that the more Void items picked up, more void creeps spawn. And seeing some online lobbies with "no lunar" in their names, I wonder. How do they affect the spawn rate or difficulty of the run?

I can't manage to find any info about it.

To my knowledge, Lunar items have no effect on the game outside of what the specific items do. A common Lunar build is multiple Gestures of the Drowned and Spinel Tonic, which can take several minutes to obtain in the Bazaar. That long wait (along with that build making the game much easier) could lead to someone requesting no Lunars. Eulogy Zero could also impact item spawns for other players, but I've not seen any threads complaining about that unlike the Spinel Tonic builds.

I see, makes sense now. Thanks!

Yeah, no lunars seems like it's specifically targeted towards gesture and eulogy. And also probably the "just dont get hit lmao" items like glass and crown. And probably all of the equipment.

People insist on lobbies with no lunars because 80%+ of people who regularly play multiplayer risk of rain 2 cheat themselves billions of lunar coins and roll 40 times for gestures or transcendances at the shop they insist on going to after every stage.

"Oh lunars are so OP. They make runs easier." Ok so do void items, and yet no one complains about their balance to the game. "Lunars are practically free because of le heckin notepad dude." So are void items. They take away half health which can easily be healed. They are also pretty common, "People who use lunars are so one dimensional people just use transcendence and gestures with spinel." Safer Spaces, Shrimp. Polylute, Weeping Fungus, Tentabauble, and Voidsent. "People can easily choose their lunars because of rerolling" At the cost of exponentially losing coins and going through the inconvenience to refill them. Also Encrusted Key. See, people can whine about lunars and people who use them, but the door swings both ways.

No one here is whining about lunar items as far as I can tell (one person did make a snarky comment about why he believes people ask for no lunars, but there is no need to take that personally), just answering the mans question. To your point though, there is a very big difference between practically free and actually free. you are always limited to the actual amount of void items the game gives you (and the previous stacks of the item they change), whereas with Lunar Items you can actually get 5 of exactly what you want every single stage, at no actual cost if you are using the notepad cheat. exponentially losing coins and the inconvenience of refilling them isnt really a cost if someone is using millions of lunar coins, not in the sense of the game anyway.

Yes, the void items are very powerful, but they are a part of the game. And the way to get them is unedited. It is not unreasonable for people to say "I dont want people using infinite lunar coins in my lobby". Does not mean that playing like that is bad, people can play however they want. Its a game and its supposed to be fun. But it is an exploit, and players should be allowed to play with no mods or exploits if they choose to

Don't really care if people use lunars in general. If you get tonic gestures without rolling more than a reasonable amount of times, that's fair enough. It bothers me when they stand there and roll 40 times for the exact items they want while doing an eclipse run. And when I ask them why they cheat, they say "It's not cheating, just editing a text file" or some such dumb justification, like "why do you care, it's a coop game".

Then I go: alright, next time we go to the shop I'll insta buy all lunars so you don't get to cheat but still get the *random* items, like you're supposed to in a rogue like. Then they call me toxic. One guy even wished I died IRL because of that, and I now live rent free in his head to the point that he joins games in progress just to call me a ♥♥♥♥.

People who first have to conceive of an idea to have infinite lunar coins, then go out of their way to find out how to do it, and finally, to edit a game file in order to gain an advantage over the game, and then NOT call that cheating have truly lost the plot in my opinion.
