Devotion
Between Drones and Lemurians, I choose Drones. let's list the problem with Lemurians.

1) They randomly spawn between each transport. They can be on the other side of the map, and will die by the time they reach you.

2) Squishy. Drones at least have less aggro or have smaller hit boxes. Lemurians aren't tanky enough to warrant their hit boxes. And Drones fly around the player, Lemurians just run off and die.

3) Not enough DPS. If they're going to be squishy, they should be doing more damage.

4) Or you need more Lemurians. Lots and lots of Lemurians. The trailer had like fifty Lemurians on your team. Realistically, you get like maybe ten before the end of a single round run. If they survive.

5) I only give them tank items. DPS items are wasted on Lemurians. It is better to have them survive than to have them try to out DPS things, because they will never out DPS, no matter what DPS item you give them. The Lemurians also don't stack items fast enough, a single stack of a DPS item with their AI doesn't make them good. The secret zone where you fight waves of enemies gives the enemies five stacks of a single item, and unless it is a "Tougher Times" stack, the items do nothing. Why would giving a single item to a Lemurian do anything? Especially when the item doesn't stack fast enough?

6) Drones can be repaired. Lemurians have permanent death. At the very least, Lemurians should just drop an egg on death so you can pay another item again. Getting a scrap doesn't help if you don't see a useful printer.

7) BABYSITTING. The easiest way to keep them alive was to play Engineer and stack nothing but Mushrooms on the turrets at like a hundred plus stacks so your radius is so ridiculous that they shouldn't die. Their AI is stupid. Their pathing is stupid. They run off as stupid lemmings. If you want your Lemurians to survive, you have to play escort missions with them.

Ultimately Lemurians don't help, they only slow your game down or waste your items.

Give them dps items you fool they gain more stacks as they level up

give a syringe and a shuriken at least. oof
Personally, I'd love for both lizards and drones to be revived when you go to the next stage. They could just not evolve if they die, and have to rebuy drones to repair.

They absolutely can and will out DPS things. They also do significantly more damage than drones when comparing 1 to 1. And thats just regular lemurians, not even elite, elder, or elite elder. Most of the time, the reason mine have died was due to Crab instedeath explosions heavy AOE damage like elite mushrooms or the tiny lunar chimera death flames. Honestly giving them like 1 armor plate and 1 slug was all the defense I needed to give them.

At the end of the day though, its a joke artifact. Its goofy and for fun. Its broken and not meant to be balanced. Enjoy the lizard army at whatever difficulty and with whatever items you want

I addressed this. They don't stack fast enough.

My first test was a normal 35-ish minute run with like 8 lemurs. 1 syringe, 1 shuriken, 1 crit glasses, 1 lute for offense. lemurs wrecked mithrix as fast as engi turrets would have (8 of them with more items, no ♥♥♥♥). You can get up to 15 lemurs, dio works, shipping form is the 2nd most op thing in the game behind sacrifice + void fields/golden coast. I was also playing as engi, but by the 4th stage I was only placing turrets at teleporter because lemurs killed everything too fast to bother. I've played a few runs with them (including monsoon) and they were op af every single run.

My only glaring 'f this im out' gripe is the elder lemur stampede making it hard to see/move.

Brother my lemurians ended the run with 10x more damage than me with 10 mil while I had 1, they instakilled mithrix when he showed up. Sure they crumble in the void zones/getting taken over by the parasites but saying they’re garbage is crazy.

And 5 stacks of tougher times is the only thing that does anything on enemies??? What? Backup mags makes them fire significantly faster, tri tip or crit makes them shred your health especially if on something like a mushroom, repulsion plate gives them big DR to name a few.

nah bro lemurians are beasts especially when they evolve nothing stops them unless voids explode on them. And the more items you give them they become even more powerful.

My major issue is just how bad their path finding is. Or that they will stupidly wander into void zone to die. Also falling off the map a lot.

Then there is the preview (that video with 50 of them fghting a Grovetender) which is a total scam since the game cap the number allies to 20.

I had some interresting runs with Devotion enabled, but I rather have drones indeed.

I've never had the dang Lizards last more than one or two rounds myself, no matter what Items I give em, and I can't stack items on them if they are always dead.
A question sense yoy can have only 20 what happpes to the items yoy give them if you go over 20 like do 1 od them drop the item or what

For the survivability issue:
Monster Tooth and Power Elixir helps a lot when their number is a bit low;
Medkit and Cautious Slug gets more effective when you have more Lemurians splitting the enemy's attention more often;
If you find one, Dio's Best Friend / Pluripotent Larva will make them almost unkillable.

And for them being scattered when spawning on a new map, Paul's Goat Hoof + Red Whip.

you forgot the kick in the crotch

Void investors and void jailors/et cetera basically just invalidate them entirely no matter how buff or fast they are

they still just stand in the large void collapse and die by the hundreds
