Okie doke, do you just sprint around and jump? I've cleared this game only 1 time so far on monsoon and that was with CAPTAIN lol
I always priority air with his spit attack, his lunge packs a stun and can only attack ground readily.
His life drain on third attack is okay at best, but nothing to rely on without attack speed, treat him as more of a hit and run type if you can.
Resist the urge to jump into large groups of enemies when ever possible, use epidemic instead. I've lost my fair share of runs because I decided to go for the big splash, only to get gunned down because the AI decided instead of chase it was shoot time.
His lunge also negates fall damage entirely, so if you need to jump off the map to take cover, lunge off the map, that way when he lands, his respawn has a nice splash of acid, and you take no damage.
That's all I really got off the top of my head.
- Play around with poison and blight a bit to figure out which one you like better. Each is viable, but necessitates a different build. In short, blight is more viable in early game since it can kill, but poison is more viable in late game since it does a percentage of mobs' HP rather than the flat damage amount.
- Remember that epidemic does a little bit of impact damage. Use it to finish off hordes of 1HP mobs if you're doing a poison build.
- Early drones are a blessing. Gun drones will help you finish off poisoned mobs, and healing drones will make up for your lack of defensive skills or items. Their effectiveness drops off hard after Sky Meadow though, so only prioritize them early.
- Never stop sprinting. Chaining your melee is good for mulching stone golems and topping off some HP, but you're not going to use it very often. Most of your gameplay is gonna be DoT kiting.
- Because Acrid is one of the few heroes with a native debuff that isn't covered by items, he can actually get good mileage out of Death Mark. 1x Chronobauble, and 4-5x Tri-Tip Dagger, Gasoline, and/or Stun Grenade can proc it off pretty regularly.
- Acrid does enough total damage via epidemic to trigger Resonance Disc constantly. Consider using this item to burn down tougher mobs in later runs, especially tough flyers like greater wisps and brass contraptions.
- Backup Mag gives you extra spits, and having 2 or 3 of them lets you fire off spits with a good enough rhythm to sweep up hordes of wisps. If you do a blight build, load up on backup mags to stack easy blights on bosses.
- Poison can kill elites when combined with Old Guillotine.
- Use your jump skill defensively, not offensively. Also remember that it makes you immune to fall damage, so pop it off if you get pushed off a ledge or knocked into the air, or escape from hordes by jumping down to a lower ledge.
- Leech Seed is a must-have. Poison damage trips heals off of seed even when the foe is at 1HP, so spreading epidemic with 2 or 3 leech seeds will keep you topped off for good as long as you have plague to spread. For extra survivability, add Aegis to turn all that extra healing into barrier. With the right amount of healing items, Acrid becomes tanky AF. On that note...
- AVOID CURSED MOBS! These guys start popping up after your first loop and they prevent you from being healed. NEVER get close to them, just spam spit from a safe distance. They WILL shut your run down.
I'm pretty sure DoT damage like poison doesn't trigger Leeching Seed, only the initial hit of the moves as it goes off the ability's proc coefficient. So you would only get the hp from the initial hit of Neurotoxin and once for every bounce of Epidemic. I could be wrong though.
It heals from on-hit only so yes, only 20 health per epidemic. However it can proc other stuff like fire band and other things that chain hit and hit and hit for extra health... but it's better to just have a heal equipment, medkits or strides of heresy, the last being the best.
This is assuming default skills.
He doesn't really need that much healing in the beginning cus of the changes he just got so you can prioritize mobility and on hit stuff so his poison will kill. Gullitine also procs off of poison and death mark is a good pick up since he already fills one of the debuffs required with poison but that's more of late game investment.
All acrid does is just kite and poison later in the run cus melee with him is so trash late game. Get ♥♥♥♥ like back up mags for your m2, the new purity lunar item is also perfect as well as visions of heresy cus why not since your melees useless at this point. M2 and his special don't cancel sprint so prioritizing those items are key if you find em. Once you get to a certain point all you do is afk and let poison and all your busted on hits and on kills wipe the map for you
