There is no harm getting it, and you can disable it when starting a new run. So if you find the DLC stuff overwhelming, you can just turn it off and play vanilla runs.

it does, however, add two new survivors, new items, new levels and new enemies, alongside entirely new end boss you can defeat.

I just started playing, void dlc makes stuff really fun to mess around with. Plus, the sale going on rn is a good chance to grab it while you can.
