acrid was my first character to master and he's my fav alongside void fiend
i was under the impression that everyone only has a recolor as a skin except the 2 dlc characters
turns out only acrid has it this way. everyone else has something new to the skin, even mult somehow
but its just that the glow is completely gone and the texture makes him look teethless. Acrid shouldve gotten better than this
i do wish they put extra effort to recolor those parts on rex but yeah, acrid still feels like a massive letdown
Bro really thinks he's the ♥♥♥ monster 😭😭😭❗❗❗❗
but when judging acrid's skin, i meant that it brings absolutely nothing new to the character
everyone has some sort of slight alterations to their body or clothing
i personally love artificer's skin. its vastly different from the base, when you compare it to skins of other characters (she's as different as railgunner's and void fiend's skins are once unlocked)
some skins are weak and there's no doubt in that, like:
acrid, mul-t, rex, mercenary
Specifically these 4.
-Acrid has absolutely nothing new to it, nothing added or removed aside from just no glow.
-Mul-T only gets a color swap, something removed and a different hat, second to worst skin.
-Rex has a cool color alteration and leaves get turned into flowers, and his robotic bits seem more worn out (like the machine has aged, the paint is coming off), but the fact the vines mid sprint dont change the color even slightly, kinda hurt.
-Mercenary... Yes. He does look cool, i like that they made his helmet look different by adding 'eyes' to it, and the crescent on his forehead to look more like a samurai of sorts, but aside from that he has absolutely no changes (aside from the obvious color swap)
Everyone else gets some much different thing to their body, texture or even weapon they use.
-Commando: huge color swap, added parts, helmet altered to look like he ranked up after leaving the planet.
-Huntress: Looks more like a hunter, trades the scarf for a fur hood, her pants are changed, bow slightly textured different, you can see a zipper on the chest.
-Bandit: self explanatory, great skin with cool additions, and his gun turns into a damn spas.
-Engineer: looks sick. feels like he got more armored up, even his mines and turrets are slightly changed.
-Artificer: Gets an actual visor of sorts, clothes look like she also ranked up after coming back just like commando, interesting pattern addition, simply feels more experienced.
-Loader: simply a ror1/ror returns reference, and that alone is alright. Some parts removed, some altered, differently textured.
-Railgunner: Hard to tell if its supposed to look like someone from ror1/returns, but its definitely a massive look change. Feels like someone closer to commando in style, i personally prefer her base but it doesnt devalue the skin.
-Void fiend: Simply a 'cleansed' look, as the name suggests (purified). It resembles all of the void creatures when they are summoned by newly hatched zoea item (very bright, shiny) and void jailers at the same time (his head looks like the right arm, its right arm resembles the left of a jailer although different, and their back/front draws similiarities to the void devastator in a way [the pipe-like things])
All of these skins feel like they have actual lore reason or are a massive improval/alteration to the original design. Same cant be said about the initial 4 skins (Mul-T gets a pass on the lore reason though. Perhaps it was just re-used as a janitor once it came back, who knows).
