About gearbox, i don't understand.

why does everyone hate them? i like their games myself, btw i know abt the gacha game and idc

That's the thing. The devs handed full control over to Gearbox. Hopoo is only doing RoRR and that's it as far as RoR is concerned.
The new RoR2 expansion is going to be all Gearbox. SotV was also a lot of Gearbox work.

Gearbox has a well documented history of being ♥♥♥♥♥♥ that's why people are wary of Gearbox. Almost every IP they manage gets bogged down in really awful monetization, poor decision making, and eventually abandoned. The thread has a bunch of examples to point to. If I had to point to another company to make a comparison they're like the EA of smaller game devs.
Selling the IP on such a beloved franchise is going to go down like Star Wars has I have no doubt.

Gearbox has a bit of a... history, and their entire game release set as of the last 10 years has been only the main Borderlands games (which are average at best and I do like them), the mostly bad Borderlands DLC, Battleborn (which I don't remember much about), and remasters of other games.... And Aliens Colonial Marines right at the tail end of those 10 years, which was a trainwreck. Combine that with a terrible and unlikable CEO...

Basically, quality is average to low, and so is trust. Gearbox has a lot to prove with these releases, and the mobile game leaves reason for worry I'd say.
