twisted scavenger - Guragura the Lucky

so I fought this guy using the beads of fealty in a solo run and couldnt kill him. He was easy enough to fight but would regularly just get a huge chunk of health back. Rinse and repeat and I ended up letting him kill me cause I got bored. Where does the heal come from, I didnt see it in his item list? Was my damage output just too low or am I missing a trick to the fight?

He has a Spinel Tonic, which increases health by 50% when activated.

I got to him and found the same thing. After he healed for however many times and I was going to quit the game thinking it was bugged, for the heck of it I got on his head. When I did that he never healed again. Was able to kill him that way.
