Like with We Happy Few, expect it to be promptly abandoned entirely after this acquisition.
Even though we were promised another expansion.
What I'm upset about is the fact Risk of Rain 3+ will likely suck balls if the original devs are no longer involved. I could be pleasantly surprised, but selling RoR to a AAA publisher/developer is like selling your brick-and-mortar, mom-and-pop local retail shop to Walmart.
Yeah, Gearbox doesn't have the best track record, but that doesn't mean I'm going to dismiss anything they may or may do with the IP out of hand. Like I said, I don't care who makes it, be it Hopoo, Gearbox or the fairy godmother. I just want more RoR 2.
Though if the acquisition means we'll be getting ...♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ anything for 2 I welcome it. The only way is up, the way it is right now. Not to badmouth Hopoo, they've created something truly unique/awesome and I understand not wanting to work on the same project for so long, but I want more of it and I'd be willing to pay for it. The game still has a lot of untapped potential.
Like yeah, I'm disappointed that they went the route of just selling the IP and washing their hands of it, but that's not going to change the world. The alternative would be utter radio silence and mounting frustrations about an expansion for the game that may or may not ever come out. Can't force them to continue on it if they don't want to.
