A simple mod to see what an item does ?

Hi,
having to remember all the items effects is kind of a useless pain when playing casually in multiplayer. Is there a way to show what an item do BEFORE taking it ? with settings or a mod ? thanks

there's some that give more detailed descriptions of how exactly it works, but I'm not sure about a "ping-to-see-info" mod

If you want, I can share you my modified Items.txt and Equipment.txt files that adds colored descriptions about their stats (and CharacterBodies.txt that add and fix some stuff in the character skills / the 2 other files's descriptions also fix some stat errors I've found like Kjaro's Band).
That might help you remember the items more easily as you pick them up and if you prefer not using a mod, this is a possibility.


I did look to see if there was a mod-free way to modify the message you get when you ping a certain item.
The item's name that appear in chat is pooled from Items.txt and Equipment.txt so technically, you can add a small description on the name itself to get that result outside of mods.
But the problem with that method is that the name from those files is used everywhere.. I just tried with a couple items, I find it too messy compared to my descriptions :/

Like legit, I do not need to know what my DPS is, what my luck is, or any of that ♥♥♥♥. All I need to know is how long it takes me to kill something. And you don't need no "Better UI" for that, rofl.

thanks to all of you. Yeah i could use the colored .txt (just by chinging those txt you can modify items stats ???) and i will take a look on thunderstore , take the time to chose between the mods, i don't want things to change too much (in fact i don't really need anything else than a prompt telling me to step inside the golden portal and not the normal TP, i missed the secret world behind the golden portal THREE TIMES by clicking to quickly xD !!!!!!!)

You actually don't need any mod for that, bruh. Matter of fact, you can turn off ui elements of the mod that you don't need via config, legit fr no cap

Like legit, if you're going to call something unplayable you should know wtf you're talking about first. There are several config files for better ui to customize/disable many aspects. That's the whole point, you have control over it.

Nah, it's not changing the stats, only the text you see.
I've added / changed some of the texts on the items to fix some errors (Kjaro's band is 327% and not 300% over 3 seconds; those changes will appear in the logbook on top of the colored description);
added a more descriptive description for the items for the popup you see when you pick them up / hover your mouse over them in-game (That's the colored part, I've made a screenshot so this will be more clear[imgur.com]);
And CharacterBodies.txt fixes / adds small stuff in the character skills descriptions (Like the 1000% damage from Transport Mode you can see on the screenshot)

I'll risk putting a Google Drive link, hopefully Steam won't be too stingy with this one, and I've made a .txt file with infos on where to install them and what is changed in the files a bit more in depth: Language modification[drive.google.com]
