Man, they might as well just remove lunar items OTHER than the ones for the Heretic
There is no reason to ever grab them with the insanely OP corrupted items, just unlock the Heretic when first formed and remove them from the game. I really can't say I've ever WANTED to get any lunar items after finding out what they did OTHER than maybe gesture or to toy around with the flask.

Meanwhile, I'll take EVERY SINGLE corrupted item there is with no real downsides that I can even see.

Brittle Crown is straight up free money if you're gonna kill the things that hurt you anyway, Defiant Gouge speeds up stages tremendously, Mercurial Rachis is really good for engineer, Purity is incredible on survivors that don't rely on procs, Spinel Tonic... Straight up one of the best items in the game

They mostly all have their uses (even corpsebloom!), but just like void items, you need to understand your current runs' circumstances. Benthic Bloom, Pluripotent Larva and Newly Hatched Zoea for example will ruin your run if picked up or activated at a bad time. Needletick is arguably weaker on high speed proccers like Commando and Mul-T. Lost Seer's takes a lot of stacks (or a clover) to outperform Lensmakers. And Safer Spaces... Still can't make my mind up about it, it's definitely good but I would rather have three Tougher Times that three Safer Spaces (and conversely, I'd prefer 20 Safer Spaces over 20 Tougher Times).

Amen to unlocking Birdy though

hope you're ready for my light novel on my undying love for brittle crown, followed by a college thesis on how pluripotent larva's only upside is the fact that it's model has a silly face.

also hopoo please let us unlock heretic, i don't like going into the bazaar with 200 coins and coming out with 0 coins and 2/4 of a heretic

I agree with LitQuid on just about everything. The void items are not all auto takes, and the lunar items, while definitely SUPER niche, have found a home in several of my builds. I mean, even if they are not amazing, some of them sure are fun. Also I have come to love Tincture when you pull a Bens raincoat

Safer Spaces along with Opals are primary tools of dealing with fall damage on Eclipse, since it's way more oppressive in that mode.

On the subject of lunars - the addition of new void items (however busted they are) absolutely did not change how items like Transcendence, Tonic, Glass, Convergence, Brittle Crown, GotD, Purity (on certain characters) are still capable of carrying a run on their own.
That being said, there's not a lot of new lunars that are great (maybe apart from Light Flux Pauldron which, like Purity, is insane but only on few characters).

Oh yeah, Safer Spaces is great in Eclipse no doubt. I've only just started playing Eclipse though and haven't actually played E3 on any survivor.

Lunar items are one of those things where if you don't now what you're doing they can be incredibly bad.
On the other hand, if you KNOW what the lunars do and how to use them, they become some of the most OP items in the game.

For example:
Hellfire tincture and strides of heresy. Burn everything while becoming immune to damage and healing yourself. Works good with a corpsebloom.

Transcendence and ~5 strides of heresy. When low health, disappear and recharge all your shield while in shadow form.

Light flux pauldron on its own is fantastic for survivors who don't rely on very high attack speed such as artificer.

Gesture of the drowned is straight up OP with certain equipment. Automatic disposable missile launcher with <20 second cooldown? Yes please.

Focussed convergence is fantastic for teleporter events if you don't mind the smaller zone. I always pick up at least 1.

The list goes on.

Pretty much every character has 1 or 2 Lunars that make them drastically more powerful. It's just a matter of making sure to take the right ones.

OP hasn't played Bandit with Desperado and Purity, which is fun as ♥♥♥♥. Pathetic.

Ah yes, they ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ that was pretty much all multiplayer lobbies when Bandit first rolled out, filled with people bomb-rushing the Lunar Shop at Stage 1 like Lemmings to stack a ton of Shaped Glasses and spam Desperado / Lights Out on absolutely everything. So Fuun!

Also if you don't see the downside of Corrupted Items:
  • There's a bunch of Equipment constant uptime that are really useful and that become harder to get by taking a Lysate Cell (not everyone plays with infinite Lunar Coins / with Command);
  • Newly Hatched Zoea spawns can kill you and will destroy all your Yellow Items in the process;
  • Benthic Bloom gradually transforms most of your items into REDs, and does it faster and faster. I don't think I have to explain why having a majority of items that don't stack their damage / do base damage while having none that enhance your base stats is a bad thing in *most* cases.
  • Pluripotent Larva can create all the problems above as soon as you die.

lunar items are overpowered as ♥♥♥♥ and picking 2-3 of them reduces the difficulty of the game by 50%

lunar items are definitely the straight opposite of super niche right now, save for a small minority of pre-sotv ones & most of the new lunars which are actually well designed
