Anyone else feels that the Trophy Hunter's Tricorn is OP?
I mean, INSTA KILL a teleport boss AND get their yellow item for free? this seems extremely too good for an equipment.

My suggestion for the nerf is basically to split the item's effect into two separate items, one item (lets call it the executioner) which kill any enemy in an instant -excluding teleporter bosses cause it would be too good- but maybe not make it a single use item and make it have a 120 seconds cooldown, the 2nd item (lets call it marked for blood), where you mark a target and once that target is marked you're guaranteed to get their yellow/boss item to drop.

I'm saying this because I just hit 3 mountain shrines on Stage 4, which spawned an Overloading Worm with something like 1M hp, I had no business winning that, there was no way I would've killed that Worm and yet all I had to do was press a button, not only killing the Worm but also getting a Charged Perforator on top of that.

AND please, no "it's a single player game so things should be broken and balancing shouldn't matter" type of comment, be rational in your reasoning.

Thank you. :golem:

It IS one use though, and you don't find it that often. It also means that if you aren't somewhere where you can get a "good" boss, you'll have to hold onto it and sacrifice your equipement slot for several stages.

I do agree it's one of the strongest equipements in the game, but i wouldn't split them. And let's be honest, it's kinda fun to get some bonus yellow items.

Just make it so that instead of an instakill, it deals something like 25% of the boss's missing health as true damage. And if it kills, you get the item.

25% missing hp is terrible

honestly, the only reasons i think it's op are because of command and overloading worms. having command on just turns any equipment drop into a free teleporter boss skip + free item. and overloading worms are too scary to be undermined by some dinky equipment.

i do like that it guarantees a yellow to drop, because this game likes to think the only yellow that exists is queen's gland, but it's just way too abusable with command.

edit because i'm not replying to someone a third time: it's completely balanced with or without command, it does not need a nerf, i'm just sick of seeing people turn orange essences into tricorns instead of based goobos.

Yup, the item is overtuned as it have 2 effects merged into one item, I feel like having a guaranteed yellow item drop is enough for an equipment tbh, everything else is just extra and icing on the cake.

Honestly you don't really need command to get at least one to drop, I get one almost every run (obliteration short runs), since there are so many ways you can get equipment items, it'll eventually drop.

It's 1/25 chance for it to drop from an equipment chest & 3/25 for it to be in an equipment multishop, not to mention Shrine of Chance and if you're using Recycler, these are high odds for an item this powerful.

you are ridiculously lucky with your equipment rates then

1/25 is still a pretty balanced chance for something with only one use. it's a lot less abusable when you get 1-2 per run as opposed to 1-3 every stage.

The whole point of command is to break the game in the first place so I don't think that's a real argument

25% missing hp is terrible

It's a kill under 20% max HP. But it is a bit low. 50% missing HP might be a more reasonable value.

And since it would lead to unfair last hitting issue, you can give it a window like "if it dies within 1 second".

Literally no one said that?

I mean having an equipment that does nothing until you find a Worm, Imp Overlord, Grovetender, Grandparent or Dunestrider and that then just goes to do nothing again is enough of a downside. You want to get a charged perforator from an overloading worm, not an electric dildo from a wandering vagrant. Even a titanic knurl is kinda underwhelming compared to a Shatterspleen or any perforator.
