I hear gold portal isn't worth it...

Just tried it. almost beat it on monsoon but I thought I was safe from the boss' laser in an area with no cover but I couldn't see the boss' laser due to terrain sloping down enough, but err. it nailed me anyway.

ANYWAY, while fighting him I noticed the timer stopped counting, and I found 3 chests for 25 gold only. 2 hiding behind rocks on the edge of the map, and one underwater near the center. 3 chests with no time countdown and Maybe the boss drops something too? (dunno, didn't get him).. err. I just realized that you have to pay a crapton of gold to activate the portal. nm.

It still isn't worth it.

• Have to grind for gold portal itself.
  
• It's like 5 crappy chests.
  
• Fight and level itself is the most grindy and tedious activity in videogames since the invention of MMOs and the crab challenge.
  
• Difficulty bumps on enter and exit, adding another 15% to total difficulty.

do it over and over again to farm the logs
if you have the logs don´t ever bother with it again unless they change the area up in future updates

this.

his log is by far the hardest to get just from the nature of the boss itself, his arena, and how to get there.

Got it on my second kill of him (4th overall). It was probably the universe having mercy on me from when it took me 40+ times to get a trophy (1/10 drop) from a boss in terraria.

Yeah the boss itself isn't so bad. what's bad is the terrain. If he decides to start queuing up his lazor when you're in an area with no rocks, you could be in big trouble since it basically instakills you unless you got some massive defense buffs.

well.. at close range each tick does over 1K damage from that laser... so yeah its basically an instagib

His enviroment log is hiding in the onion rings tower, it's in one of the rungs that are almost touching with a rock wedged between them.

yea it's not worth it got lot's of runs ruined thanks to long ass time it took to activate the beacon.
