Sure it gets somewhat annoying in the mid-late game, and that's the big downside: there is no choice. It's a nice item if you get it on stage 1-2, and find a cleansing pool by the end of the 2nd loop
Its essentially an extremely high risk and extremely high reward item, an extra 15 levels earlier then usual gives you a ton of extra damage and survivability but without an effective way to defeat what are essentially enemies of 2-4 loops ahead of you depending on stack size its a death sentence to stack it.
plus ending stage 4 with 8+ million in cash from how much money these guys can drop can still give about half to a full level up
