Void Fields used to be go-to for a legendary item...
After the changes it doesn't feel worth it, and depending on build/luck can actually be a run ender.

The made the timer continue there now, which I guess was a nerf to artifact of sacrifice farming. But it can take so long that unless you are explicitly going for void ending then it heavily extends the timer while not actually progressing stage number, making the run harder. Even so I can live with this particular change just to counter the OP strategy of farming with sacrifice.

But the worse change by far is the massive increase in damage over time outside the bubbles. It used to be annoying but manageable with a couple armor platings. Now I think it ignores armor plating entirely and does so much damage that if you get unlucky with 2 bubbles being far away it can be an unavoidable death without getting the right kind of healing, mobility, or max hp items. Especially on less mobile survivors.

It was meant to be a challenge, but it was too easy before. Now they force you to make a choice - go in early when the waves will be simple and hope you get good spawns or risk going in later after you can survive the DoT, but the mobs will be much stronger.

I love the new change because it's no longer a free legendary item. I would be running into the second stage with a free legendary, several free green, and a multitude of white items and just smash my way through to the end. Now, if you get bad RNG for mobility and/or healing, you'll have to make that choice of going later and dying to stronger mobs, or just skip it entirely.

If anyone complaining about this change sits back and thinks about this for at least ten seconds, they'll realize that the Void Fields were completely broken before. Legendary items are incredibly strong and getting a free one before the second stage every run was stupid. Not only did it make the rest of the run a joke, but it became the norm. The second stage WAS the Void Fields for most people.

The DoT is pretty strong, but even one Bustling Fungus was enough for my Engineer with no mobility items to be able to out-heal the damage if I wasn't able to make it to the next orb in time.

I like that it's more challenging now and not boring. But, yeah it's certain death to walk in there on stage 1 or 2.

I like that it's not just trading 15 minutes of boredom for free items anymore
I hate how wack void suffocation is. "I can't access this area without a checklist of items that only come from drops" is bad design for this kind of game, no matter how common those drops. Make the challenge come from the enemies, not this stupid stat check (which, let me remind you, you can't decide not to proceed with if you already entered the portal. Bad design.)

You can still farm the hell outta the Ambry, though. Just spend a half hour there and then do a loop or two to get your reds.
