Trophy hunter's tricorn issues?

Has anyone else had problems with receiving the item? I have used it on an enemy but it didn't give it to me or drop it?

The only time I didn't get an item from using it was when I used it on a worm that was mostly submerged, so I just assume it fell through the ground. Otherwise it's worked as advertised for me.
For clarity's sake: It doesn't just give you the item, it drops it where the boss enemy you killed with it was.

Oh, so it just dropped into the ground? Well, that's kinda uncool.

Yeah, worms will drop it under the ground. I also has an instance where the boss was at the edge of a cliff, and I think that the item spawned over the edge and fell into the pit.

Hopefully that's something they can fix. Maybe it should just go right into your inventory

I dunno. I put my hat on the Equipment drone, and it just runs around saying AHOY! every couple seconds

It can also be lost if boss floats outside of the level. I got robbed of 3 yellow items by some wacky jellyfishes.
