Thoughts on the Void Fiend?
It is the most inconsistent character I've played yet. It doesn't feel very fun to play as, either. Every time you transform, you just get stuck in a place for a noticeable second which can be very detrimental at times.

It can also lock you out of certain builds, having too much healing will prevent you from transforming to your corrupted form and having too much crit will make you transform too quickly, which results in being stuck in one place more often, making you vulnerable to enemy attacks.

He is also the only character without alternate abilities, so it kinda left me with a bad impression of the guy.

Maybe adding in a special that allows you to manually transform instead of automatically will help with consistency, but over all, I do not like playing him.

If you get 50 corrupted items you stay in the red form permanently and don't need to worry about the transformation, but between 40-50 you transform every few seconds so its really rough.

Overall I think its my new favorite character, I just hate u cant move while transforming, it lost me a few runs, but if they allow movement but you cant shoot while transforming, i feel then it would be perfectly fine.
it's worth noting that void fiend is a lot like acrid in a way. not in their kits, but how you're supposed to play them.

with some small differences, all the survivors play they same because they are the same. humans, with a weapon. therfore, they play similar. rex, acrid and now fiend are the oddballs. therfor you can't play them like the humans. rex plays a kiting game along with managing his hp, acrid flips between applying poison at range and leaping in to do some quick killing. void is about balance.

early game: managing your corruption is key. always try to keep it high, but not max. if you see a large group of enemies let yourself corrupt and wipe them, then return to balance. always go into the portal event with corruption ready. use your mobility as a dodge as much as possible. you can phase through enemies with it in both forms. bomb your enemies in corrupt mode before going in with the laser. additionally, your m2 can knock you back, use this for mobility too.

mid game: at this point a choice needs to be made. do you go with the proc chain fiend, that likes to stay in their controlled form, or the onhit fiend, that likes to be corrupted as much as possible.

for proc chain, get the usual elements of a proc chain ( atg, ukelale, wisps etc) along with lots of healing. stay at range and use your long range attacks to take enemies out from afar. survival is key and hardlight afterburner is excellent for getting out of bad situations. AVOID (pun intended) void items as much as possible, we want to keep your corruption as low as possible.

for corrupted, do the exact opposite. get loads of on hit stuff and go crazy with void items. personal recomendations go to plasma shrimp and voidflame + loads of crowbars. void fiend attacks fast in corrupted form, and can be boosted further with crits and predator. get scythes only when you're comfortable with controling your corruption.

late game:
invest heavily into your chosen playstyle and look into some lunars. perma tonic makes corrupt fiend even scarier while flux pauldrons can really help controlled fiend with making escapes and spamming long range orbs.
Clunky and awkward. People who play on drizzle / rely on insane item luck to brute force monsoon seem to love him, though.
You literally need to constantly stop what you are doing and use a useless ability if you want to remain consistent. It is the definition of clunky.
They literally looked at Tainted Samson and went "what if we had something like that but instead of the transformation being smooth and effortless we'll make it as obnoxious as we can"

The fact that his kit just feels like a ♥♥♥♥♥♥ version of Artificer really doesn't help. Seriously, did they not realize how almost all of his attacks are already done better by a character already considered mediocre? Jesus.

I love him. Balancing between the corrupted form and controlled form is very fun, and you can utilize it for a lot of situations. Getting used to when to allow yourself to become corrupt or not for combat or movement is an interesting choice.

His kit allows you to be pretty self sufficient, too. Between heals, debuff negation, movement, and high dmg it's all just so useful. I find they hit the mark with him. I haven't loved a character this much since Rex.

If you stay on the edge of the arena in simulacrum and get enough damage dealing you can halt your corruption falling for a good while. Dealing massive aoe on crowds of gup will keep you in the red. You basically have to speed up his weak M1 to do anything. Not being able to freely aim his Void Channel in corrupt form is very limiting. You can also scuba dive in the void for around 30 seconds and grab stuff with his healing. I think he plays best when defending his team mates and in Simulacrum.

He feels very different to the other survivors, I like it but the transforming animation is my biggest gripe, completely stopping to watch a second animation is really annoying and I imagine could be fatal under unfortunate circumstances.
Least favorite character to date.
Would have been fun if it was a secret character unlock instead of one of the 2 dlc ones
I just hope the corrupted form primary has a longer range
He definitely feels quite dependant on items moreso than other survivors. He's a really fun concept, but he absolutely need tweaks, there is no doubt about that. Thought he'd be amazing late game, but seeing as his corrupted m1 does not scale with attack speed, i doubt it.
I like them. They felt awkward to use at first, but the playstyle really started to grow on me once I got the hang of deliberately manipulating the corruption meter. I do wish the transformation didn't completely stop you in your tracks, though; it's pretty jarring even if it only lasts a split second. No alternate abilities is also a bit disappointing...

Ahahah, my favorite character is Rex too, and I think I will like le Void Fiend too. :D
Terrible.
Totally dependant on items (good luck playing him without Command) with a horrifically weak kit that straight up stops working in the presence of any healing.

Needs a rework ASAP.
I really like his abilities. It makes you think about the way you play that none of the other survivors do. Also his design/sound design are spot on. They're really great.

That said, he's a bit clunky and he's punished too hard for getting good healing going, honestly. If you're stuck in the passive form for a while he becomes really boring. Found myself deliberately taking damage just to be able to transform again.

is this a joke lmao, his built in healing makes it possible to beat the game on monsoon with barely any items
Just remeber with full charged M2 you can rocket jump with void fiend

But yeah Ive only 1 gripe with him just his whole self damage when corrupt instead of heal which has gotten me killed on solid runs where 1 second late R press got me instant killed
