There are FAR too many items in this game that heal or mitigate damage for the current system to be effective, and it's really clunky. As past posts have stated, it gets even worse if you're in co-op with people who have group-healing abilities. Lepton Daisy just straight-up cancels corruption.
If the point of the character is to try to get hypermode as much as possible (like young link in hyrule warriors for example), it needs to be more in the players control. This is the only survivor I can think of who's kit actually gets weaker as the run goes on, due to his more powerful moveset appearing less and less.
Edit, small afterthought: Taking damage as a method of getting into the form is also really poorly thought out. Enemies WILL one-shot you the longer the run goes on, meaning that you cant even do that safely past loop 2.
you can stay in his corrupted form for a good amount of time if you just hoard the purple items. I enjoyed him quite a bit if i am being honest... but I also enjoy a challenge, and have like a quarter of my playtime on artificer because she is the only character I struggle getting good runs with
do you know how much coruption items boost the gauge, is it enough to out pace healing?
I've really been enjoying him. He feels really powerful.
He benefits a lot from learning when to use "Suppress" at the right moment. His transformed state is extremely powerful and basically melts bosses.
I would argue that they make him transform too quickly.
If you're not supplementing your healing with key healing and damage reduction items, you're doing it wrong.
Except why would you want to supplement your healing when it actively lowers your DPS, which is directly equivalent to lowering your survivability on Monsoon.
Exactly these two things. It's not that he's bad, but he feels super weird in a game like RoR where every item is beneficial to some degree or at the worst, worthless. Outside of lunar items, I can think of only one or two items that I actively leave on the ground and avoid on most characters but wiith even one medkit making significant cuts on his corruption form, I'm not sure how you're supposed to "make up" for that. I can only imagine how picking up a leech seed must totally GUT his corrupted form beam due to how fast it ticks.
