Void Fiend feels really bad.
The bulk of content about void fiend seems to be people asking how to get him. Please don't clog this thread with it. I got him by turning on command, sacrifice, and swarms and cheesing the hell out of the Simulacrum.

That out of the way, I was really excited for a survivor that required you to put thought and skill into balancing health and corruption. What it feels like I got was a struggle between two bad forms, one with horrible DPS and one with horrible range. The fact that you are actively discouraged from taking healing items in order to make use of your corruption in a game where healing is how you survive suggests this character's kit was not thought out.

The player needs better tools to balance health and corruption, because right now playing VF feels more like an act of desperation than an act of skill and I can see how that's thematically relevant but the result is a really unpleasant player experience. If there was more of a benefit to corrupted form I would get it, but as it stands it's more of a death sentence than a power boost.

Anyone have a different experience or any tips? I'm at a loss.

Honestly I think they should axe the healing mechanic entirely, and make the corrupted form an R ability. Have it last a certain amount of time, and then give it a long cooldown (15 seconds up, 60s down maybe?). I'd also extend his primary abilities range by about twice as much, and remove the ridiculous upwards momentum of the default forms shift ability (which only serves to give enemies an opportunity to skeet-shoot you before you take additional fall damage).

There are FAR too many items in this game that heal or mitigate damage for the current system to be effective, and it's really clunky. As past posts have stated, it gets even worse if you're in co-op with people who have group-healing abilities. Lepton Daisy just straight-up cancels corruption.

If the point of the character is to try to get hypermode as much as possible (like young link in hyrule warriors for example), it needs to be more in the players control. This is the only survivor I can think of who's kit actually gets weaker as the run goes on, due to his more powerful moveset appearing less and less.

Edit, small afterthought: Taking damage as a method of getting into the form is also really poorly thought out. Enemies WILL one-shot you the longer the run goes on, meaning that you cant even do that safely past loop 2.

it needs to be a switch make it like shaped glass where when you switch you become super low health but can switch back that would make it much better

I did a monsoon run with him, got rejuv rack, aegis, and i literally could not die to mithrix. And tbf the corruption form does run out really quickly with healing, unless there is someway to extend the time without using your R like killing elites and such would be nice. But this is like the first time i've played him, bound to get more used to his kit.
His crits give more corruption.
Both dealing crits and having corrupted items*
you can stay in his corrupted form for a good amount of time if you just hoard the purple items. I enjoyed him quite a bit if i am being honest... but I also enjoy a challenge, and have like a quarter of my playtime on artificer because she is the only character I struggle getting good runs with

Try defending your teammates as Fiend

Hes fine power wise, its just really damn lame that ALL healing lowers his meter.

do you know how much coruption items boost the gauge, is it enough to out pace healing?

It just seems like void fiend is waaaay too item dependent then. You'd need to get 10 crit glasses or ocular hud for the crits. Even with a single harvester scythe, the healing completely outpaces 100% crit rate, so you'd need a ♥♥♥♥ ton of void items. And that's excluding the void item that corrupts all crit glasses. Ugh.

Noone else tried the Void Fiend?

I've really been enjoying him. He feels really powerful.

He benefits a lot from learning when to use "Suppress" at the right moment. His transformed state is extremely powerful and basically melts bosses.

I would argue that they make him transform too quickly.

If being able to clutch a boss fight with 2 shrines of the mountain on stage 1 is bad then i'd hate to see a terrible survivor

I dont know what tips to give other than they are op af. They have a built in 25% heal that you get every 5 seconds with great mobility and sniping power from a distance in normal form. And in corrupt form you are a literal ray of death still with great mobility. Only healing items i use are the scythes and run everything down.
lol 25% healing in a game where everything one shots you

If you're not supplementing your healing with key healing and damage reduction items, you're doing it wrong.

Except why would you want to supplement your healing when it actively lowers your DPS, which is directly equivalent to lowering your survivability on Monsoon.

void fiend is a cool concept but i dont like how taking one medkit hurts ur dps so much, you cant stay raged once you take a medkit

Void Fiend feels untested and borderline unfinished, the general idea is there but nothing in his kit really feels good and either doesn't work well or just ends up playing like a worse Artificer.

Railgunner though? Practically perfect (if a little OP), every bit of her kit just fits together perfectly and she plays well right from the get-go, you can tell a lot of thought and effort went into her design.
I'm really not sure what happened with Void Fiend.
so you saying VF is just like blight acrid ? acrid buff? :D

Exactly these two things. It's not that he's bad, but he feels super weird in a game like RoR where every item is beneficial to some degree or at the worst, worthless. Outside of lunar items, I can think of only one or two items that I actively leave on the ground and avoid on most characters but wiith even one medkit making significant cuts on his corruption form, I'm not sure how you're supposed to "make up" for that. I can only imagine how picking up a leech seed must totally GUT his corrupted form beam due to how fast it ticks.
