Unless you give him really stupid item combos. So if you're playing Eclipse, don't do that. If you aren't playing Eclipse, there's one or two other endings you can go for.
Things to not give to Mithrix ever: Spare Drone Parts, Empathy Cores
Things to not give to Mithrix if you have npc allies: AtG, especially with tesla coil
Things to not give to Mithrix if you're a low damage per hit character: Armor plates, Planula
Also, if you have a non-equipment way to skip pillars, or if you just did the pillars anyway. You should definitely bring something that does damage. One royal capacitor or preon should give you half your items back. There's often equipment tri-shops on stage 5, so this is likely an option.
I've only died once to final phase Mithrix. Normally you can just pop him like a balloon. Once you get that first handful of damage items, he just falls apart immediately. The one time I struggled is because I got up there practically crawling already, on a ♥♥♥♥♥♥ run. And happened to bring drones, AtG, needleticks, and tesla coil. His tesla hit a drone a couple of times and it caused a missile to fly directly into my face. And then collapse broke my bones.
I for one am glad that the final form isn't just another proc chain sponge like every other boss.
8 stacks of bleeding are equally lethal when you have no items and the one dealing them is Mithrix.
The final mechanic is amazing and pushes the challenge to the limits! Doing better makes you get items faster and pushes for a faster win. If you stand back and barely attack then ya you will die rather easily.
The darts he shoots can even be dodged by MUL-T and his groundslam attack is the most obvious attack in video game history. I really do not like saying "skill issue" to a rather serious thread but sorry that's skill issue right there.
Final phase is an awful mechanic that punishes you for getting good items. I have no idea why people keep making excuses for it.
Being made of glass, but still doing the annoying thing of stealing all your items to just gear-check if you have something to one shot you with real quick.
So he's less of a problem but he still kind of just casually deletes you sometimes.
Still screams unfun design to me.
