Can you use the Shock beacon to kill mithrix and unlock the new skill?

believe it has to be with the beacon drop, since correct me if i am wrong the shock part doesn't do any damage

If I recall correctly the shock beacon doesn't do damage, only stuns. But yes, you must kill him with the beacon landing itself

If you'r struggling with the challenge I suggest using the artifact of glass, command and playing on drizzle. Use the artifact of command to get armor piercing rounds/crit and you can gather teddy bears and attack speed if you are worried about getting one shotted. For your equipment using the primordial cube is nice since it holds Mythrix in place without doing damage. The whole point of the artifact of command is to negate any chances of outside sources killing Mythrix. That being any dot effects etc. Of course there is other things you can do like getting shaped glass, goat hoofs, hoopoo feathers to help. But thats the general idea of it.
