Did you notice that mercenary's final quote is diffrent?

I just completed a run with merc, and I didn't skip the cutscene because I wanted to see the quote. Suprisingly the mercenary's quote is diffrent in ror2, contrary to other characters that came back.
Quote in Ror1:
"And so he left, never to become human again"
Quote in Ror2:
"And so he left, with terrible power in shaking hands"

It's just an interesting detail I noticed.

uuummm, its ROR1 vs ROR2? were you expecting the same single line of text? given that youve just finished the game to achieve a single line of text?

Did you read what I said? I said that all other characters that come back from ror1 have the same text.

Huh, I never noticed that!

It could be because, if this game does take place after ror1, merc already stopped being human, so the old ending line wouldn't make much sense. Still pretty cool though

Ikr? I once heard they did a study where they tested if people read the whole text. The results were higher than expected, I'm pretty sure more than 50% didn't read the whole text and skipped some. On the steam discussions it feels like the number of those people is doubled.

my friend's theorising about what this mercenary's backstory could be. it might be a bit juicier in terms of lore compared to the rest. why is he found on the moon, unlocked by using the obelisk? how did he get there? why did they search for power and how could they have found a celestial portal? is he even a new survivor, or could he be the old mercenary, looking for something to distract himself with?

i hope hopoo will eventually complete his lore log. he really does seem like an interesting character.

He's also, canonically confirmed, the only returning survivor from RoR1.

That's interesting, I didn't know that, but that's probably because I haven't won with acrid yet.
So it seems like merc isn't the only character that has diffrent quotes.

This. All the "returning" survivors from RoR 1 are supposed to be a separate person in RoR 2, except acrid. so the text being different kind of makes sense tbh.
