Their activation is now based specifically on doing a lot of damage in one hit. Either your damage isn't high enough or you aren't using anything that does that much damage in one hit.

so they're useless early on then? why did they nerf the bands? getting them early on was so good.

No they are still good early on, You just need to do an attack 400% and over like Mul-t's Rebar

Are you commando? none of commandos base ability procs bands besides the grenade

no they arent useless. the change is, that they activate on any instance of damage that deals 400% base damage or more with a 10 seconds cooldown. abillities that can trigger this are for example huntress ballista, loader fist, mercenerys alt right click. you can see that in the loadout menu already. any abillity always says how much damage it deals in %. of course they can also be triggered by item procs that fit the requirements.
they actually got buffed in damage and you can now control better when you want them to trigger. the cooldown also counts as a debuff meaning it can be removed by blast shower to immediately be able to trigger them again

so they do nothing unless you play a different character? and it has a 10 second cooldown too? sounds like a nerf to me, the old bands could be activated whenever and wherever.

Or have an item, like he said. Or use the grenade ability, like was mentioned. As for it being nerfed, 100% activation instead of 8% is a big deal, even if it is only on certain attacks and with a cooldown. Also makes the power level of the item easier to control on the developer side. Lastly, different items being better or worse on different characters is perfectly normal. For example, as Huntress I cared little for Focus Crystals, but very greatly about Rose Bucklers, while it would be the opposite for Mercenary.

i still don't see the upside to the nerf if i have to use the commando's useless grenades over his default ultimate attack to be able to use the bands, when before i could get them to activate pretty often, at least more often than 6 times a minute. this isn't creating an item that benefits one character over another, it's ruining an established good item for everybody else.
AmericanKirby Sep 2, 2020 @ 7:48pm
Yeah the new bands suck, most of the characters can't activate them by themselves now.
Hxppy Thxughts Sep 2, 2020 @ 8:10pm
I kind of like the control you get with new bands. It's easy to use them in junction with crowbar to deal massive damage in the first hit.
I do agree that not being useful on half can feel awful but after a few items some of your abilities will start to proc them.

Oh look, it's Rumi struggling with Commando again. Have you tried playing a good survivor?

who said i'm struggling? im just asking why the bands are useless, when previously they were quite useful?
Zeddy Sep 2, 2020 @ 8:39pm
That's because you don't know how to read item descriptions.
