Why is the Mired Urn so bad?
I'm playing as the Engineer and get a Mired Urn thinking 'wow this is so cool, my turrets will have tethers and be able to heal, there's gonna be tarred enemies everywhere!'.

Except all they do is tar each other and me half the time. Why?

They attach to both enemies and allies, making it great on some characters and pointless on others. It saved me on my monsoon mithrix run. I was playing rex and obtained 2 Aegis. I could get close to any enemy and instantly have a full barrier. It was kind of insane.

They attached on to allies, including yourself, and inflict a massive -50% speed buff; which can easily be a death sentence at most points in the game~

It is really good with razorwire on engy or if you're a melee char but.. most people don't like to keep their distance in multiplayer and blame you instead of just staying away.

It's a really good item though, underappreciated imo.
It's definitely not a Shatterspleen though, not even most red items beat a shatterspleen

Because it gives the debuff to allies for some reason. In multiplayer it is such a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ item, especially in voidfields where you cant space out. Seriously its been a month and they havent fixed this

It gives the debuff to player allies for the same reason the boss mob the effect is based on targets its own allies. The dunestrider does not care who or what is in range, It only cares about prolonging it's own survival- And it will sap up life from Everything within it's reach; Ally or not.

The Mired Urn just faithfully replicates the effect of the bosses attack.

I guess it would be great for a solo non-engie run but making it have such a huge debuff should make it a Lunar item like Altonator said.

it's close range damage, leech and a slowing debuff. Just because engi can't use doesn't mean it's a bad item

The good news is that none of our opinions actually matter. So it doesn't matter who he agrees with.

In shocking news, I have a life outside of Steam forums and don't obsessively reply to every post.

It also just kills people in multiplayer.
Genuinely F tier in multiplayer. You'll do more harm than you'll ever do good w/ it, even if you just accidentally step by an ally w/ it it'll just casually strip your OSP and half your speed so that a mob can delete you.

I mean at least its a kinda interesting item. But tbh it shouldn't hurt allies, even if its faithfully replicating the boss attack, because it's replacing what couldve been an item that doesn't autogrief your team.

Pretty good in solo though. Adds a debuff for death mark + does decent damage and healing.

Without scrappers, I'd also call for some nerf on the item but as it is now, it's up to you to decide whether you want to take the item or not, especially in multiplayer. If you can do it with the Fungus, you can do it for this item. Leave it to melee characters.
And if you're in solo, or took it by mistake, bear with it until you scrap the hell out of it for a chance to get something better later.

I actually was able to use it effectively with engineer. Once you have enough bursting fungus you can keep both turrets at safe distance without urn triggering while still reaping the AoE fungus benefit.

Also as Acrid is a godsend.
