Blight does 60% damage per second, but can stack and will kill.
Enemy HP scales a lot harder than your base damage does, which is why items are so important and why Blight eventually just does nothing.
Is poison numerically better? Basically always, yes. I still pick blight because both are weaksauce but at least with blight I can cough an epidemic into the ground and remove any wisps nearby for the first few stages, leaving me free to jump into golems and eat their face.
Lots of 1% hp enemy still do the same damage and same dangerous.
