Either use TAB or keep re-reading item descriptions in the journal and when they pop on your screen everytime you pick one up.
That's the only way to do it.
Also, the game is not meant to "reduce quality of life" since you need your mouse to look around and shoot. It can't really do two things at once.
I tend to keep a browser open with the item list when I'm using that artifact, but it's kinda silly to have to do that for something that should be a part of the ui.
Not everyone is equal in term of memory capabilities. You don't need to sound so condescending.
But yeah, I agree on the fact that the logbook do help in learning what do each item.
Yes it can, just need to show item description when you look at it. Not that hard
