Tweak the Imp Overlord. The AoE of the ground pound isn't accurate.
Its one thing to do boss levels of damage, its another to basically end runs immediately if you play a melee character. Even when i get to the third area and it's at medium, Imp Overlord basically halves my health immediately. Ground pound for some reason hits well above where the attack should hit (Up to it's head, almost above the head), and the bleed from the needles is kind of ridiculous. There's no reason my health bar should basically disappear in the blink of an eye just because I was hit once by the needles. My issue, im playing Loader and trying to unlock her skill for getting to the celestial portal in under 25 minutes. Hard to do that when I run the risk of being pretty much nae naed as soon as the boss fight starts.

Is anyone else kind of bothered by the Imp Overlord's ridiculous AoE range and super harsh bleed damage? And if you have any advice, I'm all ears.

Doesn't hurt if you don't get hit.

On a more serious note, I have noticed the AOEs seem to reach a little high from time to time. I've been above his head and gotten shut down. I learned to not hang out above his head, but the animation definitely doesn't reflect that.
The damage from the needles doesn't bug me so much. They seem to be a spread instead of a shotgun, so I'll never get thwacked by all of them (contrary to beetle queen, who'll shotgun me to death in half a second if my brain is lagging).

As for coping with it...
Loader kind of revolves around her shift skill. The faster you're moving and the more you charge it the more damage you'll do. The idea is that you spider man towards an enemy, shift punch through them, and are on the other side of the map before they can shoot at you.
I don't generally play a lot of Loader but I hear you can even one shot the first stage's boss with her shift skill if you do it right.

It can be tempting to walk up and spam her M1, but against heavy hitting targets I generally would not.
Barrier counts towards OSP now too, so there's also that.

The Imp Overloards ground pound is easy to trigger and easy to avoid. I played Merc multiple times on monsoon and dont have issues with the boss. Others are way worse than him.

Thanks man! Will apply the knowledge when I can

I mean Im sure some people can, but the discussion is either giving me tips on it or discussing the AOE that hits above its head when the animation clearly doesn't display that range. Its cool that you can handle it, but do try to maintain the topic here.

You could like, stand behind the imp overlord a few steps, thats how I did it, you don't need to jump or anything, just have like 1-3 syringes and spam m1.

Standing behind it seems to Mostly get me hit as well, the aoe reaches behind him sometimes while other times it doesn't work behind him. Less frequently as up near the head, but certainly still inaccurate/inconsistent nonetheless.

Now listen closely, you need to do something called "dodging." It's a very complex and sophisticated game play strategy you wouldn't understand. Loosely translated it means "The boss fucking dies."

Imp Overlord is not an issue, but I can see why you'd struggle against with Loader. Hit 'n run is definitely the way to go.

As for the challenge itself, it's pretty easy. Loader can already finish stages in under two minutes due to her busted mobility, so you should have a lot of extra time by the time you reach stage seven. I got first try in 17 minutes.

1 Imp Overlord isn't so much a problem. But when 3-5 of them spawn for Teleporters (Even more fun when you get an Overloading or Burning in there) all of their hitbox issues just get amplified since you can't just walk circles around them.

I managed to get insta-gibbed by 3 of them last night as Loader. Went for a dash near the top of their heads and the ground pound was able to knock me out of the sky.

Alright so first, no need to be a jackass and act condescending to me. Its one thing to give advice, is another to be a complete ass while doing so. On that note its hard to dodge something that doesn't have an animation accurate range, especially when you are playing a melee character. So to answer your astounding wisdom, I did try dodging. Im going to need better advice than "lol git gud and dodge". Also maybe next time don't be a ♥♥♥♥ about it.

Alright, thanks for the advice. Will put into practice.

Oh yeah, 3 - 5 can be really dumb when im playing the game normally. If they fixed the actual aoe animation to be accurate I'm sure it'd be more manageable. Then I could at least see that the boss is capable of hitting above its head with that attack.

You can bait them into dropping their AOEs, by the by. Pretty handy strat.

There seems to be a cooldown on them, but it's pretty short.
