While it's possible to complete every seed if you're a no-lifer, many seeds are easier than others. You're generally looking for seeds with topaz brooches, teddies, etc. If the second stage is on rallypoint delta then you can grab a preon and just nuke the boss. Double points if there's a fuel cell somewhere, too.
The very first seed that was around had 3 brooches in the first stage and a printer in the second. It also had a fuel cell, a preon accumalator in an equipment chest, *and* was in rallypoint delta so timed chest. It was literally the perfect time to do it.
And a lot of people jumped at the chance (myself included). Even with that seed (which was basically a freebie) it was pretty hard. The problem isn't that it is difficult, the problem is that it is so much more difficult than pretty much everything else in the entire game. It's a jarring jump that leaves a huge amount of the playerbase unable to complete this one particular challenge.
And then you have randomness. Sure, everything is random, but at least when I get a bad run in the normal game, I can die or quit to menu and start a new run with a new seed in seconds. With the prismatic trials, you need to wait days to get a better seed if the current one is bad.
